First of all, yes, if you look at my forum postings, I am a noob, but I rarely find a reason to post.
I have been a WBW member for over a year.

In this category I feel strongly...
I DO NOT HATE asian cars.
I hate the idiots who take a POS car and make it look dumb by putting a spoiler and an exhaust on it.
Not just "rice burners", but the morons who do it to neons and cavaliers too. Especially hatchbacks...
I hate them because they are like "Hey, my car has a wing on the back and SOUNDS fast, wanna RACE ME?!?!?"

I have a 1999 Chevy Malibu (they used to be a muscle car dammit) (oh and I hate the latest line of malibu's... they look gay) and I have done nothing to the body or engine. I still love to burn the modding idiot's asses.

Just thought I'd get my 2 cents in...

If you want a real test of a car, take it to a road track, not a straight line.

i could honestly give a shit less on how a car handles...all i care is how fast it is on the quarter mile!, i mean ur not gonna pull up to someone in a ferrari and be, "hey buddy wanna race on the track!"....like honestly tracks are gay

No, a road track is a test of skill.
Not how many horses you have under the hood.
Anyone can drag race down a quarter mile strip, but not just anyone can do 150+ mph and the brake hard and dive into a corner without seriously injuring themselves.

Sorry to beat a dead horse here.....

Driving a car in a straight line, unless you're seriously racing at a drag strip with trip sensors, etc. you don't need much skill to go faster than the other guy....ALL you need is money. The more money you throw at a car, the faster it goes...the more money you put into purchasing a faster car, the faster it will go....etc, etc...So this argument shouldn't be whose faster...it should rather be who has more money to throw at their car....Wanna poll the average income guys/gals???

Someone commented that you don't see 4-bangers in real drag-racing.....umm...do you homework before you post man...There are 4-banger, front-wheel drive cars that are measuring their horsepower in the thousands and running faster than superstock V-8 drag cars...the technology and money that is going into front-wheel drive 4-banger drag cars is getting huge...and suspension and tire advances are only making them go faster....

Now, like Waste said, a real test of a driver's skill is on a road course. Yes, you're not going to try to race some guy on main street and decide on a race track downtown (without the cops after you)....but needless to say, a road course will test both the driver and the car to the limit...regardless of how you argue it.

Lastly, I love old muscle cars for their ability to make big power for relatively little money and look good doing it. Cons to them are their inability to turn and their normally large curb weight. Foreign cars are more plentiful, cheaper to buy, parts are cheaper, get better gas milage, and are definitely more reliable than a 40 year old car. It shouldn't be a bad thing that a guy wants to make his car faster and look better. Most people that own nicely modded classic muscle cars normally have them as a second car that they drive on the weekends....while the rest of us normal folk only have one car to worry about, so we tend to want to make that one fast.

Anyway, when it's all said and done, if you want to go fast...buy a sportbike. For less than $10,000 you can be faster than cars that are worth 10 times that amount....and trust me....0-60 in less than 3 seconds and top speeds of 180+....it's the best bang for the buck....

FYI...I own a 2002 Honda RC51, there isn't a car that I have met on the road that could outrun me....either in a straight line or on a road course....

My 2 cents....

I have to agree with waste. I can run I few of my 944’s on the drag strip all day and beat a good half of the cars at the track. I go out to the road track all most evey weekend that I can. It is fun fun fun under the sun sun sun.

hockyis1 I have to say I have a buddy with a 911 race car that could beat your bike. And he has spent less than 11,000 on it

I'm sure he could beat me...but like I said, "I" haven't met anyone on the "road" that could beat me....i know there are purebread race cars out there that can smoke bikes....that's why the fastest things around any track are formula 1 cars....however for 10,000 bucks, it's hard to beat the performance of a bike. Plus, i'm sure your buddy spent more than 10,000 just to buy the porsche. And if he didn't spend that much, it'd be hard to believe that he could get enough horsepower out of it with the money he had left over to not go over 10K. But for now, i'll take it as truth, and that's pretty sweet.

If a tree fell on this thread, would anyone miss it?

Er, I mean, good thread, good conversation. Remember to take the occasional break from the car talk to relax and check the babes out (before your heads explode).

So, here goes my opinion...

I am also a car fanatic, but I must say, european cars rule. I also like muscle cars, but only three of them. The Mustang `67 (Ford or Shelby version), the Charger `67 and the GTO `67 .
I would love to have one of those cars, but to be honest, these cars, when not modified, are a waste of steel and space and also have a lack of potency. They also are not very reliable or economic with these V8 engines, that are 6-7 liters and generate 350 HP maximum. I must say that old american serie cars have a horrible acceleration. So as I was saying, I would like to have one of the three cars I put up there. They just have something special. Now, for the ricers, I have seen muscle cars ricing also and it looks much worse than import, wait not import, japanese cars. I am against ricing, because it`s like an insult to the designer of the car. For example even with tuning. It has to be real quality or made from the designer himself to be not an insult. For example if I get a new honda, I wouldn`t modify it. Probably just change the rims, although the serie rims they make now are not so bad. Tuning cars are cars of guys with unacomplished dreams to be pro racers. Sorry MrH, if you read this But anyway I won`t get a honda as I don`t consider it a serious car. I am not insulting anybody, just my opinion.

So, overall I am against bad tuning or ricing, and I prefer serie cars. Well, I am not sure what will be my possibilities in the future, but I will try to get one of the following brands. I would prefer them to any japanese or american car brand nowadays.

Wørd! 's gtbgmaniak.

I love German cars top of all! They are classy and assertive cars.

Ford GT is also my all time fav. American car production is quite unique with all the muscle cars and both of those countries product cars in my taste.

You know, I like the Ford GT, but for an aniversary car it should have some differences with the old model

And btw, GoatMan the one that will see the Ford GT backlights would be a tuned honda. The backlights the Ford will see will be these

Good luck with racing those three with a Ford GT
