I will NEVER buy a car, where horsepowers release somewhere ~6000rpm's.
Like Honda V-tec does, I hate that. 2.2l Accord Type-R is like every fucking regular family car, but somewhere ~6000rpm V-Tec starts and it's like damn airplane. I don't understand what those honda people see in those.
1.8l Civic v-tec 180hp, I don't think so. I don't need a car where power comes with high rpms. That's a problem of plenty japanese cars.
I like german and american cars, because strong lowtorque and engines power with low rpms. I want my powers from big engine, not a fucking 1.4l 300hp engine where you have to squeeze that ricecup to the limits. I've always loved German and American vehicles.
CrapImANewbie 20 years ago
Ascaris- V-tec doesn't "kick-in" at high rpms, it's always working. all V-tec is just a system that controls when the valves open in the engine to try to keep optimum air/fuel mixture at all rpm's.
@951racer- that's what i'm talking about

I must say I have never really studyed the V-tec system I will have to go look it up and see what it does

"My Honda rounds 8000-10 000rpms, beat that German lover". <- I know people who thinks that, and it makes me pissed. I know something about v-tec, but it doesn't affect me much. I love turbos, better quality and performance comparing to v-tec for example. If I have to think between Audi 1.8t or Honda 1.8 v-tec, I take Audi. I want a car, not a toy. Sorry if I piss some of you, but I'm pissed Honda people attitude problems.

i actually have a '93 si. completely stock right now. but once i get the money i think im gonna rebuild the engine (just the top end, i don't really need to put excess of 300hp in there ha ha) and along with a bunch of other shit, turbo it. then...leave it looking competely stock. even down to the stock hub caps. no huge fart can (although i will get headers for it and redo all the exaust all the way down, i'm gonna try to find a muffuler that releases a lot of air w/out making a lot of noise, hence sounding stock), so yeah, i've been learning a lot about civics and how they work. i like the fact that they rev a lot higher than other cars. that gives them a pretty big advantage.
...still wondering weather to put a supercharged small block in the dart....::starts drooling::

dude, you're not pissing me off, all i'm saying that if you DO IT RIGHT...hondas can be extremely fast. now...most the assholes who are talking to you, appearantly have no idea what doing it right is. don't listen to them. and don't even consider a honda being fast unless you find someone who actually knows what they're doing, which unfortunatly is few and far between
p.s. on second thought, i'm prolly gonna get obsessed w/ the dart and say fuck the civic. ha ha. but those WERE my plans

I've got a Stock EVO MR, but buddy has a Stock Camaro, I believe it's a LS1.(fucking thing has torque like you wouldn't believe) Anyway Stock for Stock it was a good race.. I had him in first/second and part way through third, then he pulled on me and just started creeping away, but it wasn't a complete blow out.
I think it all depends on peoples taste.. I like the looks of the EVO, but I love the torque of the Camaro. Not to mention the Camaro handles like butt. It's so ass happy around corners... I can throw my EVO around a corner and it doesn't even bat an eye.
I agree with the attitude of some of the young punks thinking they're ricers are bad ass, but I put them in there place when they pull up next to me..
It just boils down to what people prefer, and yes you have to deal of an ocassional asshole in either class of cars... Ricers or American Muscle....

Oh yes.
Every one has opinions and own desires, but they don't have to put them on the number 1 stand always.

I know honda is not the best car when it come to tuning but I can say its the best car to start with if you want to get into the Import Scene because of its large choices of mod parts. I have yet to come across 2 honda that are moded the same. So as you get further into the Scene and learn more about moding, you then get a car that is a lil more challenging to build . . . . . .
People knock on me because all I have on my civic right now is a CAI and exhaust. Well Im sorry. some people dont have the money at the moment to do what they really want to do to their cars. . . . I have a large wish list for my car but it take time and money. More money than time . . . .
Dub = Honda People . . . . . I didnt know I had an attitude problem

Gentlemen, cars are like women. For example, I am not a fan of blondes but recognize the pleasure in driving one now and again.
"Ricers" as I understand the term are suped up Japanese imports where performance is not the issue but rather the look of performance... Non functional air dams, spoilers, 3" tailpipes, etc. I can appreciate, say, a Lexus GS430. That is a serious car although I myself would not buy one. My problem is with all show and no go. Regardless of the country of origin, if one is going to walk the walk, one better talk the talk. I remember a Honda Prelude a few years ago that was a real performer.
I am the proud owner of a Jag XKR, an Audi S8, and a Ford F150. The Audi is my favorite and I enjoy (more than you can imagine) smoking some little kid in a camaro or vette who does not know his cars well enough to know that he should not rev his engine unless he knows he can win.
While I appreciate the Porsche, I have smoked a few of those as well. (Sorry 951 but it's true); I eat as many American cars as I do imports. I started my career with a 68 Dodge Charger with a 383 in it. I wish I still had it.
Bottom line, in my opinion,cars are to be enjoyed and should reflect one's personality. If a guy would rather spend thousands of $ making his car look like a racer than using the $$ to buy a racer, super. Just don't think its a racer and everything is fine.
My wish to you all..... May you all have the $$ at some point to afford your dream cars and wonderful women to put in them. For me that's a redhead in an Aston Martin. One day.........

I think that is great but way to many people (ricer) think that the paint adds Horsepower
That is just not cool

Good point 951, an import is only an import if it is not from where you are.
I wonder what the Japanese use as a derogative term for American Cars ?
