Consentual or Rape??

16 year old girl has consentual sex with a 40 year old man.

16 year old boy has consentual sex with a 40 year old woman.

* which one of these bothers you the most?
* should there be a difference in the way we think of them?
* if so, why is there a difference?
* If either of the two kids above belonged to you, would you press charges? Even if your child said the relationship was consentual?

1. both same in my views.. i know "love knows no bounds" but you probably gotta ask quesions about why, money etc
2. in a perfect world no, but honestly i can say i would be aprehensive about it
3. not sure guess it just doesn't seem too natural
4. honestly i would be against it regardless of sex

but to each their own and i'm sure if it was legit i could understand but i would remain aprehensive just my views

i dont know how to say it in english..but for take all in one..... in this time people discrimiate sexes....if ur son was the younger with older girl...u would congrat him....(even ask the trick of how he did )......if would be ur daughter....before u finish of hear..u would be already hitting the older man to hell..(i think, that´s what i would do)

yeh its a wierd stance its more where u set your morals (that might be the wrong word or standards) but at such a young age you can see it more as puppy love than real relationship and that what some people might take as the older person taking advantage of the situation

more serious threads are cool

bottom line, under age is under age.

One does not bother me more than the other. We all know 16 year olds of either sex are quite capable of and prone to initiate sex with just about anyone.

There should not be a difference in the way we think of them, and for me there isn't.

I would certainly press charges in either case. Adults should never think they can get away with that.

its wrong through and through if i had an 18 year old and he or she did this would i agree with it? No but would i press charges? the answer again is no because he/shes of legal age to make stupid decisions lol

Quite honestly i don't know.

You hear about it in the media yet for the most part you never give it a second thought.

But i'd have to guess, i along with most people, would have to think it was more wrong for the older man with the young girl because we raise boys to be able to take care of themselves and we treat our girls as though they always need to be taken care of.

Seriously i don't think i would press charges, i would probably do nothing if it was my son. If it was my daughter i would probably beat the guy to within an inch of his life and tell him if he ever came close to my daughter again i would finish the job.

I dont have kids but i will try to raise them equally selfcapability and autonomy. I ll probably fail at some point but i know I think it is an important matter to keep in mind.

I dont even think it is that wrong for a 16 yrs old to date a 40 yrs. We know that more than half of the population looses it virginity before 16 yrs old. I wont make a scandal if I find ut one of my kids is havin sex at that age. If they choose to do it with an adult (it wouldnt necesarilly be his/her first time) is something I hope I can trust them to make a good decision, meaning i hope they can see thru stupid disguises and realize what someone is after so they can make a "complete" choice.

and no,no charges of course. but this is the third world, pressing charges isnt something particularly usefull, nor is fighting (that applies to first world too i guess)
