Technically the thread would titled better as "Consensual Rape", because rape is forcible sex against ones will. The thread's original post did not state if it was forced or not.

maybe, but in oz if youre 16...youre legal, but depending on the other persons age it can be classified as rape, and here it doesnt have to be forced to be considered rape.

i think that any huge age gaps can lead to problems...
but as far as rape goes, unless the person in question says NO its deffinately not a rape.

i think the difference has to do with the motivations for sex at that age. For guys, they are constantly thinking about sex and its always about pleasure. But for girls, a lot are perfectly happy without sex at that age so i tend to think they were either tricked or pressured if they are sleeping with a 40 yr old man. Think what you want, but there just arent a lot of 16 yr old nymphos out there want to sleep with older men, they have other interests. Besides, girls can sleep with pretty much anyone they want, so they will probably pick someone their own age if they are horny, not some creepy old man. If they are with older men its probably for psychological reasons and not sexual. Young guys will take what they can get.

well here the legal age is 16... so legally there isnt anything wrong with it... but morally on both situations i would say would be wrong especially if the 40 year old was in a position of power... you can spout that love has no age limits.. but really thats all shit if some 40 year old loves a 16 year old they would wait for them untill they are officially an adult... more often of not they are just some sick fuck who gets off on doing someone 24 years younger then them.... if i a 16 year old wants to fuck around they should do it with other 16 year olds or roughly around their own age.... but yeah

i think both instances are wrong looking back on it now but i guess i would be a hypocrit to just start rambling on about how its wrong without admiting that i used to do it(not that huge of an age gap though)... i lost my virginity at 16 and i did have relationships with guys who were older... but i can look back on it and say some of the cases were a really bad idea when there was a signifigant age gap


i think both cases are wrong with the younger male or the younger female i guess being female the first thing that comes to my mind is the whole pregnany thing. if the 40 year old woman gets pregnant by the 16 year old guy then she is way more mentally equipped and mature to handle the situation than if the 16 year old girl gets pregnant by the 40 year old guy. 16 year old girls are just kids that are right before that point where they start to think of things more sensible it would just be an aweful situation all around.


press charges? i dont know if i could take it that far, especially if it was consensual... but then again im not a mom yet, so i cant say for sure. i might feel a LOT stronger about it once i become a mom and think about it being my kids.. girl OR boy.

Sixteen is legal in my state. Though it would probably be irresponsable in either case, I'd rather have the right to it than not.

I was involved with a friend who was in that situation...I honestly think that when a 40 y/o guy is laying the moves on a 16 year old girl...though she may consent to the act(s) she is being totally manipulated by some factor or another...same deal with a 40 y/o woman.

I think its fucking disgusting to sleep with someone old enough to be your parent in any way, shape or form.

I think that questions like this are the reason we have a legal system like the one we do in the uk - because there is no generalised answer that is adequate for all instances, and every case needs to be considered on its merits. That said, at 16 it's all legal, though I can envisage some circumstances where it would be morally deplorable - equally I can envisage some where it would be perfeectly okay. So take it as it comes, really...
