If a 40 year old man where chasing after my 16 year old daughter, I would kill him. No if ands or buts...he would be a member of the DMF club.

Having a son and a daughter I can tell you that it is common for me to be more protective of the daughter.

hmmmm. I say it’s more wrong for the male at either age. Like it or not, we as a society protect females more. I am assuming neither side was tricked or coerced into having sex. We live in a world where” boys will be boys” and girls are “sugar and spice and everything nice”. However it is a proven fact that the youth in today’s world are maturing at an earlier age both physically and mentally. Also the media has its participation as well. Tough question either way.

Well... I can chime in in a different way I guess... My wife when she was 16 she did have a short-lived relationship with somebody about 38 (close enough to 40) and it was sexual. She thought it was a great idea for a very short while and now regrets having done it. She said she thought she knew what she was doing at the time but now she says that she was definitely in the dark and naieve.

Knowing this - I'd definitely kill any 40 year old guy trying to sleep with my daughter (17 or younger) If a 40 year old woman was sleeping with my son I'd definitely let her know that she is not welcome being as non-violent as I could. I've never believed in hitting women no matter what the reason - if not for that she'd get laid out too.

Neither bothers me because in my state the age of consent is 16.

1,2,3 -> none of them, because in most cases the age limit does not mean nothing.I've seen very "old" 16 years old youngsters, and very "young" 40 old folks. It is very delicate to impose a limit, and in age limit is not the answare. I don't say that the age limit is not a solution. Maybe it is a good one - maybe not. I think though that evry case sould be viewed and analysed separatly.

4 -> I wouldn't press charges, but I would beat the living crap out of both of them :-)

Doesn't matter what the person looked like (wheather they are good looking or not), profession, background, what-have-you. If I were to catch or find out about my kids in this situation, there'd be hell to pay.

Let's see.. I'm way over 40 and way past 16, so my opinion would be conjectural and subjective. Therefore I abstain.

I find them both very wrong, they should be treated equal in the eyes of the law and I don`t think they are.

Depending on where you live, there's legal shit and there's illegal shit. Most of it is hard to decipher because you need a gaggle of lawyers to waddle through the muck...most done in a cloudy way to keep the population happy about the law and to keep lawyers in a job.

I never really thought about all of this because all the women I've dated have been no more than two years younger than myself. My wife is 30 and I'm 31.

If I had a kid that was 16 and was messing around with a 40 year old, yeah, I'd bust both of their heads. Case closed.
