I think so too, at least I'm fairly certain that Romney won't win by 9%, but I'm not entirely sure that he won't win.

So with less than 8 hours until the polls open...our little WBW experiment has Mitt Romney ahead with almost 50% of the popular vote, followed by Barack Obama with 41%, Gary Johnson with (a surprising) 5.5% and the independent candidates with not quite 4%.

Glad I read that twice, was about to put fifty on the Republicans

What's it matter anyway, they both hold babies the same way.

Melbourne Cup is more interesting, there's 24 horses in that race and they've all got different styles.

I'm pretty sure he won't win. I think the popular vote will actually be pretty close, but the electoral vote is likely to something like 300+ for Obama 235ish for Romney

lol

Here's a protip: Romney wouldn't "solve our nation's most pressing problems" either. Popular politicians don't have the desire to actually solve problems because that entails alienating many of the people who actually put them in power.

Also, I'm curious exactly 6+ which high crimes and misdemeanors he's committed that you think he should have been impeached for. I mean, I could probably come up with a few, but I'm an outlier on the political spectrum.

BTW, you can leave and go to another country if you really think the US is "done." There's nothing forcing you to remain there if you think there are better places to be.

ummm...who are you talking to? lol

Oh, jeez, that dude deleted his post.

That snoopy fella had this big old thing talking about the end of the United states and how Obama should have been impeached on "at least half a dozen" charges or whatever. It was a lot of loonery.

...ok. I thought maybe you were going a little crazy.

well, there ya go. in the end, Romney was as weak a candidate as Kerry in '04.
all I know for sure now is that this is my 10,000th login at this site. I need to get a life...

It's not only that Romney was a weak candidate, it's that the Republican party as a whole appeals to a retrograde sort of voter which alienates too many others.

The Republican party of today appeals to upper and middle class white men. That demographic is shrinking. It's really that simple. Sure, there are others who are included, but upper to middle class whites (and racists of all economic backgrounds) make up a majority of the dependable republican base, and you can no longer count on that being enough to carry national candidates to victory.

both parties excel at alienation these days. but, reason Romeny was a weak candidate is his lack of appeal to the party base. the party is out of touch. they need a fiscally conservative social middle of the roader who will be straight about who (s)he is. I don't know who that person is.
he coulda made a better VP choice too. in fact, that mighta made a huge difference. who knows...

I have nothin' more to say til at least 2014.

Lol maybe Romney should have pushed for the abolition of electoral votes and insisted on WBW votes

Those bolded parts don't go together. The party base does not want a social middle of the roader. That's the problem. The republican party as a whole has to abandon that base, move to the left on social issues, and understand that the far-right social constituency will not abandon them because the alternative is unpalatable for that group.

It's the exact thing that liberals have done. Presidents like Obama and Clinton are decidedly NOT liberal, they abandon the liberal wing of their party and triangulate into the center which gives them enough support from the opposition to allow them to be elected. The hardcore left base begrudgingly votes for them because the alternative is a republican who is, to them, the worse of the two evils.

After reading Kanzens post about what Obama has done, I think I wanna have me some obama babies!!

Kanzen didn't point out that Obama has assassinated multiple US citizens without judicial process of any kind.

That's counts as an accomplishment, but it's one that prohibits me from supporting him.

He did give a hell of a speech today. The guy can talk.
