What's for dinner?

Here's the deal. Everyone in the spam threads knows that when I show up, the conversation usually drifts toward what's for dinner. I have decided to make this thread in response. I'll post daily (or at least bi daily) what I'm making for dinner. If you have no idea what to have for dinner, post what you have on hand, and I'll offer an option or two. Pics of the finished product would be cool, but are not necessary.

Tonight's dinner is going to be penne pasta and vodka meat sauce with fresh grated parmesan. Making individual garlic breads with left over hot dog buns.

If we're not getting invited for dinner then I boycott this thread

If you can manage to get here, by all means. You can bring desert, if you like.

But, considering the trip involved, I suggest you wait until I make something big, like stuffed shells, sausage and stuffed meatballs.

What is the reason for the vodka?

Making ham and cabbage myself.

It makes a nice flavorful sauce and all the alcohol cooks off. It's a tomato based sauce with cream and a bunch of cheese.

Sounds good. Made polish sausage with sauerkraut in the crock pot over the weekend.

Now I'm craving corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots because of your dinner. lol

Why let buns that didn't get used go to waste? Waste not, want not. Besides, the kids think it's cool because the individual garlic breads are "just my size" and it keeps the meal balanced.

Had a craving for it. Also found a good sale on pork loin roast, so I think I'm going to make that with sauerkraut in the next few days. Serve with real mashed potatoes.

Sorry the lapse boys. I had real bad bronchitis. Anywho, I'm back and to get things back on track: I made Pork Loin Roast with Sauerkraut and Mashed Potatoes.

3# Pork Loin Roast (cut in half if necessary)

1 large can/jar of Sauerkraut.

Place Roast in bottom of crock pot. Open can of Kraut and pour directly over roast, using another can if necessary to completely cover. Place crock pot on high and leave it alone for about 6 to 8 hours.

About an hour before roast is done:

Boil 8 to 10 peeled sliced potatoes to soft. Drain. Add 2 tsps. salt, 1 tsp pepper, 1/2 cup of butter, 2 tbsp. minced garlic and let sit until butter melts. Start mashing potatoes. Add milk to make creamy.

When time is up for roast, it should fall apart. Stir to work through Kraut.

Serve roast and kraut over prepared mashed potatoes.

Serves 6 to 8 with leftovers.

Excellent!!

I prefer the kraut that comes in a bag though.

(No, that doesn't mean Duderino with a condom!!)
