Several military big-wigs said that x number of polls showed that the average military member was for keeping 'don't ask, don't tell. Fine, whatever. I don't care if it stays in place for another century. But where, for the love of God, were these polls and poll-quoting Generals and Admirals just before we invaded Iraq? Would the big wheels have polled the average grunt in say 1967 about the wisdom of staying in the meat-grinder of Viet Nam??
