Last weekend I went to a Rondavoo they recreate the Mountain Man era ,the expansion west from the settlements built our country and made a few dollars for the fur traders. I was really into this a few years (like 20) ago...



Now the Traders make the Bucks...

This is what is called the primitive area, it's like the rondvoo's in the 1800's would look.



I was big time into this and I even designed this now commonly found chair



I gave them away at the rondavoo in '82 (they've been copied)

Those are geese, I just don't have the telephoto that hornithologist does

Yesterday Notech went "walk about" (drive really) , this is what I saw....

The Trinity River where it would be normally covered by Trinity Lake...in the distance you can see the lake




And then I turned and saw this amazing view of the Trinity Alps.....

This is the first major snow storm around here,(it lasted only a few hours)!

I needed a break from my usual haunts and drove about 100mi. N.W.of town to see this

Then last week I made this ice sculpture by leaving the faucet outside of my shop on trickle so the pipes wouldn't freeze.

love the manatees, FeFe & niiiiice stuff, notech. i've been "citybound" with work the last couple weeks...gotta make some bucks when i can in these tough times. hopefully i'll get out for more pics soon.

Az, do you know the name of that flowering cacti? If I'm right it leaves a holey kind-of exo-skeleton when it dies?

I've been looking for it's name forever and that's the first pic large enough for me to think it's the same cacti !

Time for Lightening!

Then the whole sky lights up...

Lightning is tough to get. Pretty much just need to hold the shutter down and hope for the best. And a ton of lightning is needed as well. I've tried before a few times but nothing postworthy.
