Then there's 'The Goat Ladies' home, story goes that she built it her self. I know that she lived there over 50 yrs of my life.

It IS true adobe. She passed away at over 100 yrs old (god rest her soul)

When I was a kid it was well kept and in good shape. A working farm!

Not exactly Rural Exploration, but I did happen to find this while on a drive.

I love fried chicken ... did you eat there? is it good? I have yet to try them out. I've heard Popeye's is awesome.

Here's what it looks like around my neck of the woods. Thing that sucks here (Minnesota) is that when it snows, which it did in late November. It stays until mid March. We don't get snow one day, have it melt away, then a little more another day, and it melts again. No, once it snows, it stays for 4 to 5 months usually.

Notech, your recent pics... are they new? Do you get snow where you are in northern Cali?

@ Pabst , why not! Popeye's is an institution! (thanks)

@ hornitholigist , those were taken about a week ago.

No snow here thank you.

Actually, I'm on a bridge and it's a fairly wide river (St. Louis River) ... just looks like a creek because of the small part that's not frozen.

But, I was able to escape the ice and cold for 9 days. Went down to Florida. I'll take 80's in the middle of January any day ... it was awesome. Here are some pics of the trip.

Not exactly rural, but downtown Orlando. (don't miss the gator on the bottom left)

I'm up north of Orlando at Blue Springs State Park. There were a couple hundred Manatees hanging out in the warm waters of the springs while I was there ... lucky me. I think FeFe's earlier Manatee pics may have been at the same place.

This is over near the space center ... Merritt Island NWR. Just some Spoonbills hanging out in the wetlands.

I've got more pics that I'll put in the Beaver, Tits and Peckers thread. I don't like to flood this thread with wildlife pics cause it is more about rural scenery I guess.

Winter has been fierce here(short days, cold and rainy)
It warmed into the 70's last week!
Well I finally got off my winter doldrums and headed south today to the big city of Chico.
And noticed that the Almonds are blooming already (bad thing) because we're not through our worst cold times. One Freeze and there goes
this years almond crop again. (happened last year too) California is one if not the biggest producers of almond in the world and when this
happens the price skyrockets!
Anyway a few more tree pics came from this excursion....

As far as the eye can see. Almond trees.

Good thing the Walnuts are smarter, they will wait until it's really warmer to bloom (allergy season )

Bare trees = walnuts.

This last one is a native to this area Plum tree, they are not too bright either.

Same thing happens with the peaches here in GA. A few warm days and they start blooming, stoopit plants.

Glad you could get out and take new pics Bud!

Just a beautiful day today, almost 70

I clicked these as I left home to go fly my RC airplanes (that went great too)!
N.W. from my home is the view of the Buckhorn mountains.
If you see the power pole to the left of the pic, I live just to the left of that in the oak forest

This Is Buckhorn mountain.
