I was just glad they didn't lump us in with "The Deep South". Although I technically live in the southernmost area of the continental US, there is very little "southern" about south east Florida.

If you could make me one, great I'd really appreciate it.

Why can't you run anymore if you don't mind me asking?

One of the comments posted about that map made me laugh:

"I don't understand the author's placing Philadelphia in Midlands instead of Yankeedom.

For, as James Carville famously said, Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and in between it's Alabama"

I had never heard the Carville quote before.

Having never spent time in Pennsylvania, I'm curious as to master Dros' opinion of that statement.

I don't understand why the "MyCleanPC" people got the shadiest motherfucker they could find.

Like, if you're going to steal old folks' money, then you should probably try to put someone in a suit who doesn't look like he was either found on a street corner, offering blowies for five spots, or drinking Listerine outside of an abandoned school.

I absolutely loved that map and it made me laugh with it's conclusions and analysis......most of which I totally agree with. The Deep South characterization was particularly on point. "Caste" system doesn't begin to describe the half of it. There was some serious scholarship about ten years ago which profiled the early colonial English settlers of the south - their socioeconomic breakdown etc. and how they differed from the principle English settlers of the North ( New England ) which had an entirely different economic profile and regional origin. Fascinating stuff.

If you have a picture you'd like to use, send me a link. Tall skinny pictures work best.

As for the running, I used to be a very avid runner, have done a few full marathons and several halfs. I broke one of the metatarsal bones in my foot a couple years ago, let it heal properly, didn't push myself, consulted my doctor about running again, took things very slowly to start, and 14 months after breaking it the first time, I broke it again. Now it hurts a little most days, and after running for just a few minutes it hurts a lot. So....no more running for me. Its been awful trying to adjust to it...running used to be my thing.

It is, in a very general sense, accurate. The PIT/PHL areas have some rather affluent suburbs, but the vast majority of the interior of the state is rather...eh..unsophisticated. There are some exceptions (Harrisburg, State College, Reading, to some extent) that aren't totally reminiscent of the deep south, but there's a lot of rural nothing out there, especially in the northern half of the state.

Well, there's one question answered.

But also, I think a few more were added to the queue. So a net loss, overall.

There is one store locally, but they didn't really have much, there is another store about 50 miles away, but I just haven't been out that direction recently. Its on my list.
