A police officer has gone on an embarrassing foot chase, pursuing a suspect for 20 minutes.

The only problem was, the suspect he was chasing was himself, Yahoo UK reported.

The began the pursuit after CCTV operators noticed a man �acting suspiciously� and ordered the officer to track him down.

The area the policeman was patrolling had recently had a spate of robberies, and he began the pursuit of the mystery man down alleys and around the neighbourhood for 20 minutes.

The hilarious mystery was finally solved when a sergeant recognised the probationary officer in the CCTV room.

The comedic blunder was revealed by a senior officer in a magazine published by the Police Federation.

�Every time the man darted in to another side alleyway, the PC was turning immediately into the same alleyway, but every time the CCTV operator asked what he could see there was no trace,� the senior officer revealed.

�It was at this point that the sergeant entered the control room where he recognised the junior officer.
�With the sergeant's sides aching from laughter he pointed out to the PC that the operator had been watching him unaware that he was a plain-clothes officer � thus the PC had been chasing himself round the streets,� he added.

I like how the guy refuse to give a "human" attribute to the rats while he admits he wouldn't even do the same. Just funny how humans try so hard to stay different from other animals ^^

Interesting study nonetheless. I remember hearing that rats could also bring food to distressed ones in some situation (I don't remember if it was an experimental study or just natural observation though).

This just happens all the time, but nobody really keeps tracks of it (except authorities). If you had to read all the attacks/weird things that happen all over your state / country everyday, newspapers would not be delivered by bike anymore :P

Man pleads guilty to filming sleeping girl

A man who took pornographic videos at his daughter's slumber party has pleaded guilty to a string of charges.
The man, who cannot be identified, filmed himself performing an indecent act beside his young cousin while she slept in his daughter's bedroom, the Victorian County Court was told on Tuesday.
He also used his phone to film the same act beside a 10-year-old girl who was friends with his daughter as she slept on the couch in his house.
The man has pleaded guilty to a total of nine charges including producing and possessing child pornography, committing an indecent act in the presence of a child under 16 and indecent assault.
He admitted to committing a number of acts of public indecency, including in his car as he followed a primary school student walking home in suburban Melbourne.
A police raid on his home last August uncovered 73 child pornography videos on his computer, including 30 rated by police as category-four videos, the second highest on the scale of abuse.
The man is due to be sentenced on Friday.

A woman holidaying in Majorca fell three stories from her hotel balcony while trying to remove a spider from her suitcase, her mother has revealed.
Chantelle Serginson, 24, from Middlesborough in the UK is in hospital with a fractured skull and multiple breaks in her legs after plunging more than 20 metres.
Witnesses initially claimed Chantelle fell after a fight with her mother, but Spanish police say they're treating the tragedy as an accident.
Chantelle's mother, Kimberley Serginson, has told the Daily Mail her daughter simply lost her balance.
"We weren't having a row. You would laugh if you heard what happened," she said. "We had found a spider in the suitcase and we were shouting and laughing about who was going to throw it out. We were saying: 'You throw it out, no you throw it out'."
"In the end we both grabbed the suitcase and threw the spider out."
That's when Chantelle reportedly lost her balance and plunged to the ground below.
Chantelle was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, but her mother now says she's making a 'brilliant recovery'.
"She's doing just fine, she's talking and everything, it's been brilliant that she's doing so well," Kimberley said.
It's the latest in a list of tragedies to hit the family.
In 2006 Chantelle watched on while a man slashed her mother's throat. The attacker, Mark Smorthwaite, was jailed for life, but is eligible to apply for parole.
In 1999 Kimberley lost another daughter, aged just seven, to a brain tumour.
The British consulate in Spain is assisting the pair while Chantelle recovers.

A Sydney woman has pleaded guilty to killing her former partner by lacing his soup with sleeping tablets and cutting off his penis.
Police say that after 48-year-old Xian Peng returned to Australia from China with his new girlfriend in February 2011, his former defacto Jian Chen, 47, put sleeping pills in his soup.
After he fell asleep on her couch she tied his hands and feet before cutting off his penis and stabbing him in the neck and groin in her North Ryde home.
She called 000 for an ambulance, but her former partner died in hospital from his injuries.
In the New South Wales Supreme Court, Chen has pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
The Crown accepted her guilty plea to the lesser charge.
The businesswoman, who opened a seafood import business Ocean Meats Australia in 2009, sat staring ahead in the dock as she entered her guilty plea.
She remains in custody until she is sentenced.
