So, my largest accomplishment today was getting my contributions recognized by a moderately known financial blog.
There's a technical way for the US government to avoid all this debt ceiling nonsense, and it's by minting some coins of extremely large value, and then depositing them with the Federal Reserve, which allows them to buy back previous bonds thereby retiring old debt and lowering the outstanding amount of debt. It's technically serves the same purpose as raising the debt ceiling.
But that's not important. The point is that to do this, the treasury has the statutory authority to mint coins in any denomination they like, and if they do this move, they could mint a
Trillion dollar coin.
So the guy who runs that blog put out a tweet that he wanted to get the #trilliondollarcoin meme going, and suggested that people insert "Coin" into movie titles and such to get it trending on twitter.
So,
on my twitter feed, I contributed:
"A Few Good Coins"
"A League of Extraordinary Coins"
A few minutes later, he posts on his site:
