XM and Sirius are the same except each hhave different celebs and sports... i.e. howard stern on Sirius vs Opie and Anthony (my favs) on XM. NHL, everything college and MLB on XM vs NFL and others (not sure what else) on Sirius... just depends on what you like. Both have a lot of good music/comedy/anything else you can think of radio stations, it's just the sports and celebs that seperate them.

xm all the way... the only difference is sirius has stern. had sirius first... got rid of it for lack of playlist, now i have xm and love it. NEVER listen to "regular" radio. ever. never had a problem with it. i travel to canada every year to go fishing, only loose signal once while passing behind a mountain, but even that only lasts a minute or two. either system you get, you can't lose. it's just plain great. we have 4 systems by the way. if you have multiple systems, i know xm offers a "family" plan type thing. don't know for sure about sirius, i would imagine they do too. get it, you won't regret it!

Sirius lets you get up to 4? plans at once. first is 12.95 then its 6.95 for each additional one.

I do miss O&A but howards two stations should more then make up for it. just wondering does XM have CNBC? I always catch Mad Money on my ride home from work.

CNBC 130, Spa 73, Chill 35, NFL, and Howard 100/101 are reasons why I have Sirius. Only up side I found with XM is O&A

P.S Sirius also has that old sex doctor lady. and and and martha and we can't forget little gay boy simmons. =)

I always listen to www.radio10gold.nl via my pc.
At the moment they are doing a top 4000, from 07:00 to 23:00 hours each day.

Now I just need to find out, where I can get myself the entire top 4000.

Howard Stern?

I know this isn't supposed to be a Howard vs. Opie & Anthony thread, but you are obviously a O&A fanboy if i ever heard one. I've tried listening to their bits before and its just them yelling and screaming into the mic. Not funny. Just Stern clones in my opinion. If they were any good they would have been sindicated years ago like Stern has. Not to mention their switch to satelite would have generated a buzz for satelite raido, which it didn't. They have their fans, and to each is own. But putting them on the same level with Stern is just ridiculous.

I'm getting Sirius this x-mas or shortly afterwards for the sole reason of listening to Stern. I'm sure XM has good channels as well and from what i have noticed, they seem to be about the same with XM more music driven and Sirius more celebrity driven (Eminem, Stern, etc).

Although XM may have more subscribers, keep in mind they came out a year or two before Sirius did. Get whatever you want. Neither company is going anywhere. Choices make each product better. if Sirius were to go under, look for XM to turn to shit and vice versa.

A great example is Professional Wrestling. Ever since WCW and ECW folded, WWF(E) has turned to shit because their is no competition.

As far as Canadian listeners go, all you need to do is sign up using an United States address and you can get Stern. Just get a P.O. box or use a relatives address and you are in. Censorship sucks.

They were syndicated in over 25 markets across the country and they did create a buzz when they came to XM.

If they weren't on the same level as Stern then why did he have a gag order placed on them when they worked for the same company? Why did Stern run to Mel Karamzin and make it so O&A could not say his name or anything referencing him? Why would Stern then take shots at the boys calling them "the clones down the street", knowing full well that they couldn't do anything about it? Why is it that when their show was cancelled after the Sex for Sam thing, that if they wanted to get out of their contract and start working again that they would have to sign a contract stating that if they mentioned Stern or anyone at Inifinity Broadcasting they would be fined $100,000 per incident? Why would Howard also say on his show back in the summer of 2004 that and I quote "I will go to whatever sat radio company that does not have Opie and Anthony".

If they weren't on the same level why would Howard do all these things to keep them down? It doesn't make sense.

Don;t get me wrong. I used to love Howard before the FCC this, Geaorge Bush that, cry fest that became his show. I friend turned me onto O&A and I haven't looked back since. Howard was great in his time, even better then O&A will ever be but his time is over.

Another reason why Sirius is better is that you can buy a lifetime service plan for $500 (which pays for itself in 4 years). XM doesn't offer a lifetime service plan.

Lifetime means the life of that specific receiver. So if you change headunits then you would have to get service to that specific unit.
[/reply]

Actually Lifetime means the life of the specific TUNER, not the receiver (except for the EZ700SR, where the tuner is built into the receiver). Even if I wanted to change to a different type of receiver, as long as it's Sirius Ready, I can plug my old Sirius Tuner into the different receiver, and the lifetime plan will still work.

XM's numbers are inflated because of the deal with GM for 1 year subscriptions. I'd like to see the numbers on how many of those expire. Myself I'm a Sirius subscriber, and my only complaint has been the playlist depth, but since I have 500 mile drives to work I really don't mind it, I can always find something, and it's kinda hard to watch football while you're driving...

Sirius's numbers are alos inflated. They count cars with their radios that are in dealers lots as subscribers. XM counts radio that have received an invoice for their use.

They have a 7 story banner hanging off Madison Square Garden, they are now in XM ad in papers and magazines and in billboards.

It was not an Infinity issue, why would a company not want some heated battle between their shock jocks to create publicity and gain ratings? This was your defender of free speech coming down and taking away O&A's right to free speech.

Here are some clips to listen to

Here is one of Howard sayiong Siruis has 3 million listeners back this past summer when they were no where close to it

Dude listen to the show it's a cheap derivative of Howard's the content is about being loud and over the top in a gross and sexual manner. Howard has never been only about that. He keeps it in context and has very biting social commentary. These guys have never had an original idea in their careers. 7 Story billboards? LeBron James has one in Cleveland and it surely doesn't make him Michael Jordan. When they can earn it they deserve it and O&A haven't

O&A is not about gross and sexual content. They are about being funny, something Howard has not done in years.
But you still have not said why are they ripoffs? what have they ripped off? I need examples.

As for the never original idea i have to disagree. What about WOW, the 55 gallon-drum challage, homeless shopping spree, sex for sam 1, 2 and 3, the money snatch grab, The staple gun challenge
All these seem like original ideas that have not been ripped off from Stern

Well my guess is if you traced these bits back the have a genesis in somehting Howards done. Homeless shopping spree gee before Howard had the homeless on his show who else did anything with the homeless? Again maybe not a direct ripoff but who did the homeless thing first. The rest of the bits? I've never heard them and never will these guys bore me! We'll see how it all plays out they will be second class bit players the rest of their careers like Rick Dees, Ryan Seacrest and Mancow
