Good choice on picking the company with less subcribers, worse technology and a company with no idea how to turn a profit when they are already losing more money then XM even before Howard's 500 million dollar contract comes into play.

XM had the better radios more of a choice of radios, 150+ chanles, more stable company, better sound, you will hear stuff you dont hear on regular radio,
sirius choise of something like 3 radios, only 120 channels, the rtadio you hear is the same as FM,

they both cost the same about for the same services

My mind isn't completly made up. The problem is that there are't enough people supporting XM(sirius in ahead about 75%). If more people were in favor of that service, I might go with that company.

XM has more subscribers and better technology. They will actually be a profitable company very soon, unlike Sirius since they just throw money at celeberties. 500 million dollars for Stern. How can a company that is losing hundreds of millions of dollars a year be able to afford this? His fans are not going to siruis has predictied and it will be a huge dissappointment come next year. They also have given Richard simmons millions of dollars for his own show and channel and martha stewart. How are these smart moves?

Sirius doesn't even have a hand held portable unit that you can listen live from. Xm has had one out on the market since last christmas. XM is by far the more superior company, they are smart with their money, are way ahead of the competition in the technology and they have more channels and a deeper play list.

You would be stupid to invest in a company that may not be around in a years time

You can even bookmark individual songs - push a button while a song is playing, and the system will alert you when it is playing on a channel other than what you're tuned in to.

XM does the exact same thing and has more channels

Are you kidding me?
I got my XM Roady 2 for my car for $49.99 plus a $20 rebate, and I pay $12.99 month

the whole nfl thing with sirius makes no sense, its the sport that is played on the day that everyone is at home watching, no one listens to radio broadcasts of football games because they are all watching it, the biggest sports contract is baseball 30 teams 182 games a season per team, any team, any game, anyway, if you are talking radio personalities xm has an answer to every sirius radio personality and sirius has an answer for every sirius personality, the biggest difference between xm and sirius is xm is running their company like an entertainment company like HBO and sirius is running their company like a radio company, sirius will have to have extensive comercials once howard starts getting paid and XM's cash flow is mainly subscriber based, and sirius is being run by Mel Karmezan the same guy that ran Infinity broadcasting into the ground with hours of boring comercials...And Howard is all done anyway he's lost all touch with reality, no one wants to listen to him interview strippers, strippers are boring and stupid, I dont even want to hear a stripper while she is giving me a lap dance

Both Xm and Sirius are losing money, Sirius paid 500 million for stern but XM paid closer to 600 million for the MLB deal. I believe its a 12 year contract.

Sirius #s are much better the last two months then XM in terms of sales/members, XM has more members but has been around a bit longer, XM has GM and Honda, Sirius has most everything else from BMW, Audi, Benz, Mazda, and so on. also Hertz car rental is putting units in their cars.

XM counts each GM car that comes with a short term free XM free membership as a member where Sirius counts REAL members so XM kinda has iffy #s Your AVG GM buyer wont fork out 12.95 a month for radio, where your BMW/Benz owners will.

What it comes down to is XM has MLB, NASFUCKINGCAR, and Direct TV music channels (might I add their xmas station plays ads for the USPS no ads my ass!) Sirius has NFL, NHL, Tons of college stuff, Howeard, and a bunch of other goodies.

both cost the same 12.95

I HATE nascar and dislike baseball, even more so on the radio, Sirius was a no brainer for me.
each to their won. if you want MLB get XM O&A were GREAT on the radio, I miss them, but they wont touch howard.

Start buying and selling XMSR and SIRI and you will learn fast just how well they are both doing =)

SIRI just went up 6% friday. I own about 750 shares of it. WOOT!

Somebody obviously isn't american because he doesn't like baseball. Im not gonna say who but its quite obvious. I have had XM for a while now and love it. Friends have Sirius and there really isnt that much difference just depends if you want football or baseball. . . both have channels that have a few commercials on it but most do not. I love my XM and wouldn't change it. They raised the price from 9.99 to 12.99 or whatever but they gave you two premium channels and free internet subscription so you can listen to XM at your computer. Thats what I like. They also have great concerts live and stuff. Their comedy is hilarious and Opie and Anthony are just as good if not better than Stern. . . If you judge a company by their stock then no one in this world would ever buy a GM product again! Who cares how many shares of a company somebody owns. . . does that make a difference in the radio you want to buy?

2 things wrong with that

Sirius has the iffy numbers. They count subscribers as cars that are in the dealer's lot. XM counts a subscriber has someone that has actually received an invoice to receive their product. If XM counted subscribers like Sirius they would have roughly 500,000 more subribers then they count for now.
http://www.orbitcast.com/archives/xm-vs-sirius-subscriber-numbers.html

Also both XM and Sirius have NHL, but only for this year. Afterwards XM has the exclusive rights for 10 years on the NHL.

From what I've heard it was the other way around and Sirius didnt count them unless they have a PAID member.

either way, I could care less, both are good, pick the one you want based on sports and O&A VS Howie, Both have pretty much the same music channels it just bugs me that they have ads for the USPS nonestop thruout the day on the xmas station (XM)

both cost the same both are good.

I own Sirius stock becuase I think its a great stock to own as of right now, after jan/feb chances are Ill end up cashing in. then onto something else.

ROFL .... "more subscribers" as a reason for getting XM. Good sell.

I'm a sirius fan myself, although I sure wish I could hear O&A.

Sirius has:

NFL
NBA
NHL
College Football, Basketball, ???
English Soccer

XM has:

MLB
golf??
bowling??
umm I dunno

Both stations have similar music, don't listen to the bullshit "deeper play list" it is the unique content that should be your decision maker. They both have plusses and minuses.

You can't go wrong with either company. Once you get satellite, you will never go back to terrestrial radio. XM tends to come out with their latest hardware a few months ahead of Sirius, but Sirius has a slight edge in their music programming. For example, the trance/techno station on Sirius is much better than the trance/techno station on Sirius. But it really comes down to what you like. If you like MLB and/or Opie and Anthony, go with XM. If you like the NFL and/or Howard Stern, go with Sirius. And I really hope this thread does not regress into the retarded O & A vs. Howard debate. They both have their fans and let's just leave it at that. I've been a huge Stern fan since the early 90's so I went with Sirius. Like I said, you can't go wrong with either service. If you do choose Sirius, get the Sportster plug and play. It's small, and you can use it in your car, at home, or with the Sirius Boombox. Just my 2 cents.

Why do people keep saying Sirius has the NHL and XM doesnt?
After this season the NHL is exclusivly on XM.

Well, I changed my mind. I did some research of my own and looked through the station listing, and decided to go with XM; it had more of what I listen to. Thanks to everyone for your help.
