On that topic, can lesbians tell the level of attractiveness in a dude? I mean, I know they like girls but do they see dudes the same way straight guys do? Personally, I can tell if the guy is very attractive or hideous but most people fall somewhere in between and I couldn't tell one from the other. In other words, I can tell if a dude is a 9 or a 10 or if he's a 1 or 2 but 3-8 are all interchangeable to me. Is it the same for the lady-lovin' ladies? Just one of my not so deep thoughts today.

I think this can be explained by personal tastes.

There are certain traits that are generally thought to be "attractive" by specific societies, but beyond those you get into the grey area where some people will like one variant of physical features over the other, so people sort of blend together in the middle-tiers (more frequently than they do at the ugly-hot extremes).

Funny that you would mention that as we are trying to get pregnant in the next few months and dude watching ( in some general and possibly statistical sense ) is always under discussion.

I understand what you're saying but when I look at a woman, there's a whole spectrum of attractiveness where as a man it's more black or white (not being racist, just using a color analogy). Like I can see a lady who's generally attractive but not smoking hot and place her in the category of a 6 or 7 on the 1-10 scale. Where as if I see a dude who's neither a model nor a troll, I wouldn't be able to place him in a certain area of the scale.

I think women in general are able to do this better then men. Haven't you ever heard women talking about how pretty a girl is...or more likely, "she would be so pretty if she just did such and such with her hair/makeup/clothes."
But to answer your question specifically about lesbians...idk. THIS lesbian can look at guys and appreciate a good looking one, I think I can also pinpoint average and less then average. But to distinguish between a 7 and an 8...probably not.

Makes sense. I think when it comes to a difference between a 7 and an 8, it's really just personal preference anyway.

Maybe the difference between those two is the smile that she gave you ( or not).

Don't mind you asking at all. When my spouse graduates grad school this summer I get the green light to get preggers. The deal was that I would put her through university and upon graduation she would make the big bucks as an MD or researcher and I would retire to be a mom. Happy to have someone in my life that is wonderful in so many ways. But the sperm donor thing brings up some interesting emotions.

For example, we both are very happy with the genes that we see reflected in the mirror. My mix is Italian/Swiss/Native American. Her's is pure Vietnamese. She is pitching an Asian donor and I am leaning toward European. It's just an ethnic pride thing and I am interested how strongly two women feel about it !! Normally that stuff is the domain of the male parent/sperm donor. You know the rules of nature and the incredible force to pass on one's genes among males.......funny that it would surface in a lesser but no means less sincere manner between two women when they seemingly have a choice when a donor is in play.

So interesting. I've never thought about how a mixed race lesbian couple would decide on the nationality of their baby. I would assume, since you're going to be carrying maybe you should choose an Asian donor so the baby would have the traits of both of you? Besides, mixed race people are by far the best looking (coming from a Cuban/Italian fellow).
