Kanzen and Sugarpie fighting like a married couple again. I can't totally disagree with a lot of K's points but I still like the show. Also, part of the fun is poking holes in a lot of the stuff that happens (like everyone being a marksman, Darrryl never running out of arrows, etc) I honestly don't watch much TV besides sports and the occasional cartoon but Walking Dead is one of the few shows I make time to watch.

Vague yet omnipresent means that yes the threat is always there, but it isn't always right in their face.
Zombies acting in non zombie way? This is a discussion based solely on someones interpretation on something that doesn't exist!, so I'm not going to get drawn into that argument.
Its clear you haven't watched the show since some time in season 2, which I've already agreed was a low point; so I'm gonna end the discussion now.

Omnipresent: (adj)
1. Present everywhere at the same time.
2. Widely or constantly encountered; common or widespread.
Having a handful of zombies appear every once and a while is not omnipresent. It is diametrically opposed to the whole concept.

As in the show doesn't follow it's own world logic.
Randy points out zombies go for blood immediately and ignore other things. Such as wiping blood on the chain fence, he uses the opportunity to carefully stab the zombie in the brain while it is focused on the blood on a fucking chain. But previously Daryl was unconscious with a gapping hole in his side, blood pouring out, but the zombie is chewing on his mud-covered boot.
Zombies respond to sound and are alerted immediately. But only when the plot demands it. Zombies inside a building, none of them respond to the yelling of Rick and Shane. They don't respond to the gunfire at Randy. But a pane of glass breaks and suddenly they are everywhere.
The survivors know that zombies are everywhere and are supposed to be dangerous. Yet they never actually secure any area before trying to salvage supplies. They go in, get surprised and then flee.
Gunshots are not loud enough to deafen people with the weapons about a foot away from their face. But yet they alert zombies a quarter of a mile away.
Zombies teleport into areas that are clearly visible such as Dale watching from the RV, turns around for three seconds and suddenly there are zombies immediately in the area despite not being there before hand.
Blood loss and fatal wounds are not fatal.
Lori.
It breaks it's own world logic for convenience which is the biggest bullshit.

I don't remember the kids name, but he was the one that was shooting at Rick, Hershel, and Glen from the roof while they were holding out at the bar.
So the kid is trying to kill them. Zombies show up because of the noise. So Randy/all whatever his name is, jumps from a roof and has one of his legs land on a spiked fence. Consider that for a moment. Instead of going down the same way he got up there, he jumped from a roof onto a fence. Does that seem logical?
Now consider that Rick has already murdered two other people, friends or associates of R. R is part of a group who want revenge and to kill the three. So now R is trapped on a fence, screaming. What does the R/H/G do? They go to save this kid who was trying to kill them. That's right, after murdering R's buddies, they want to save him. Does that make any sense whatsoever?
Somehow this stand off goes on for hours which makes no sense. If the group R was in wanted to kill them, all they would have to do is start a fire and pick them off at the exits. Simple as that. Again, broken logic.
So instead of putting a bullet in the head of R, like any sane person would do in this situation, they hoist him off the spike and take him back with them. Meanwhile, Lori's dumbass flips the car on the only thing in the street. How the fuck do you hit a zombie and flip a car like a jackass and then proceed to brag about it as an accomplishment. So they bring R back to their location (revealing their existence and possible location), patch the kid up and let him heal for a week.
They skip until the part where R is healed enough to be dropped off in another location. Mind you, they don't secure the area first. They just go in blindly, leave R tied to the ground. Then Shane realizes AFTER A FUCKING WEEK that the kid is a danger if left alone. Rick then wants to take the high ground by trying to slug Shane. They fight, there is a gunshot, all this fucking noise. But then suddenly zombies who have ignored all this noise show up because of broken glass.
That is what you call bad writing and inconsistent characters.
How should it of been handled? Well first, you put Rick in a position where he is left no choice but to kill the two guys in the bar. Instead of having him just murder them. He would feel bad about it. Then when his buddies show up, he would have to realize that people are a threat. He kills in self-defense, but when R is left in danger, have R beg for help. At which point, Rick should show hesitation but still shoots the kid in the face. That defenselessness and Rick's guilt would make for character growth. Herhsel has already has his growth and it would serve to make Glen a bit more horrified by the situation but accepting. It edges them closer to being monsters, but still human. They know what they did was wrong, but it was still the correct choice. They all realize that the kid is a danger, they don't like their choices but they have to make them. It is logical and realistic.
You have the issue nag at Rick over time, making himself feel less and less human which means he will go out of his way to become a better person. He then has inner conflict which is a useful plot device.
But that doesn't let them drag shit out for two episodes to make more money.

Its ok...Kanzen hasn't watched it for 2 seasons, so there really aren't any spoilers.

Because people are stupid and get more stupid when they're scared. The Governor gives an air of authority and power, and stupid(er) people relate that to safety that they don't have to think about. And since he is the most powerful person those scared (stupider) people know, they want to be close with him (take his dick) so he'll favor them when it comes time for him to make tough decisions that they're too scared (stupid) to make themselves.

Originally posted by Davey45Also, how come even the children can dead eye a zombie with a rifle from 100 yards but when they're shooting at living people they turn into some combination of storm troopers and A-team villains?
Because when they're shooting at people, the people are shooting back. There's a lot more adrenaline and fear and general chaos involved in a gunfight than there is casually taking shots at a dead thing.
