These are some pics of the mission that resulted from our "ambushed" recon...

The first is a hell of a way to start clearing the roadside! All of this was to improve line of sight for the marines who patrol this area..

The second shot shows what happens when you use the tree line to hide... A marine was killed at this site a few months ago. All the trees are gone now... No hiding being done here...

Last pic: It really sucks when you have a breakdown in 120 degree weather, wearing full body armor, and you have to work on a piece of machinery that's been running all day, throwing off 250 degrees or more...
Our mechanic was a real tough one to pull this off...

pheonixbreed,

The Navy and Marine Corps prefers to rotate in six month increments. If you know what unit your friend is with, you could try sending a letter to him via the command. PM me if you need some additional help. I may be able to find out some things the next time I go to base.

When bad news is coming, you usually can tell...
Sometimes, you already know what it is. You do your best to prepare for it; you even pretend you've already heard it. You do anything you can to deaden the impact when you finally get it.

It never works.

Bad news is always bad, whether you know it's coming or not.

Last night, at 9:30 PM at Walter Reid, with his family at his side, The soldier who was shot had his life support disconnected. 30 minutes later, he passed away. This was the decision of his family, and his last wishes, as I've been told.
It's hard to internalize the feelings that run through your mind... For some, it's destructive. So close to the end, and losing a fellow soldier really hits hard on everyone. All we can do is buckle down and finish stronger than before, to show those who did this that our strength and dedication will not waver...

Rest in Peace... You will be remembered by everyone...

I just happened to look into the sky last night, and this is what I saw:

Whatever was falling from the sky, it took several hours to come down. I'm guessing it was either a comet or meteor, judging by the size and intensity...

Or, it was aliens, coming to aid in the war in Iraq!
Cool... Can I go home now?

Although, it was the fastest descent back to the ground I've ever felt, with the acception of a Blackhawk.

What model herc did you fly on? If you really know....Im a KC-130J mechanic, and by god, I'd fly on one of them planes before I took another commercial flight, anyday!

I'm not sure on the model... I do know the Air Force was in charge of the whole operation, though.

Those planes are pretty sturdy, just too damn tight on space!
