Here's another shot of the Buffalo, but closer. My head comes up to the fender...

Granted, I'm not the tallest, but Damn! The FENDER is 5 1/2 feet off the ground. Plus, after further inspection I realized there's enough redundant suspension that this thing could have an axle blown off and still roll... That's Nuckin Futs!!

I guess an RPG missed it's mark, and a soldier wanted to comment on the marksmanship of the local insurgents...

Oh, the large thing over the picture is the claw of the buffalo, outside the window...

My platoon will be involved in something kinda big in the next few days... It should make the news. I'll try to post once we complete the mission, if I can beat CNN...

even more so when you don't have much of a px...one guy got hold of the offical photo's...nothing you could even begin to post...ex: one guy is holding something that looks like a halloween mask...but its not

@treschaud: I'm an E-5, and yes, there are quite a few Iraqi women who work as interpreters on the camp. Many of them are remarkably attractive. As for outside the gate, the adult women are well covered. Who knows what lies beneath the shrouds...

Two days ago, I got the chance to earn one of the two things I never wanted from this deployment: One was a Purple Heart, which I gladly avoided.
However, while waiting to download a bulldozer next to a propane plant outside Abu Ghraib, we were shot at by an RPG... It passed between my truck and the truck in front of us, blowing through a wall and destroying the adjoining room of the plant.
So, I get the infamous CAB (Combat Action Badge) which is the non-infantry equivilent of the CIB (Combat Infantry Badge).
It's awarded to individuals who are engaged or engage enemy forces in a combat zone. I was really hoping to make it through the deployment without seeing any action, but I guess not.

So, my driver and I get CAB's for getting shot at by an RPG! YAY!!

Here's a picture I took seconds after the attack, which I first thought was a random mortar round...
