Oh... and one other thing. Who said anything about a GT40? Youre right, i doubt there is anyone here that could afford a GT40, as you'd probably be talking $1,000,000 plus for one.

Or did you mean the Ford GT?

Yet another so called car fan that doesnt know the difference between a GT40 and a GT.

As a SCCA Solo2 Autocross racer, I've seen/driven a few cars. And honestly, some of the best AutoX cars I've seen were American. Vette's, Camaro's, a ' Stang here and there, but really, its all in the driver. Sure some make it easier. My '92 Talon TSi is a hell of a lot easier to pilot around the course then say, a '94 Camaro. But if the driver in the 'maro really knows his whip, the chances are he's gunna beat me. And I've lost to a '94 Camaro too. It's a know fact (at least in the AutoX circles I hang out in) that European cars handle better STOCK. American cars run better 1/4 mile times STOCK. And Japanese cars get bettter fuel economy STOCK. But I can tune any car to do jsut about anything. You want a 9 second monster of a ricer? Skyline GTR SR20DETT (with some monster tuning and some spray I'd reckon). The Newer mustangs can be made to handle well. You can get a BMW to get awesome gas milage. It's all in the tuning and the driver. I'm a firm beliver in the fact that it's not WHAT you drive, but HOW you drive it, and HOW you tune it.

Funny... I didn't even know there is such thing as 87 octane gas. In Finland we only have 95 and 98. Few years back there was also 99, but they don't sell it any more.

American engines are (generally) designed to produce high torgue output with low RPM, Japanese engines to produce high power with high RPM, and European engines are somewhere in between.

Gas is also very cheap in USA, at least comparing to european prices (1.3€/litre = $6/gallon). With European gas prices people wouldn't have the money to drive high-cc engines.

Did you know that Diesel-powered Mercedes and BMW cars are more popular than the petrol versions in many European countries? AFAIK Diesel versions aren't even sold in USA.

"Truth. Far east cars are best. there are better on fuel, last longer, and drive much better and members of America car club owners in Europe are Sad bloke in checked shirt from Grimsby called Colin."

Only one american named Colin, the rest are imports.

Why is it that the "World" attacks American and American cars yet they all drive Jap imports? If your a POM why don't you drive a Pomie car? See what I mean, at least Americans drive what they make. Hell even half the Hondas they drive are made over there.

The reason American cars don't do well in England is beacause you drive on the wrong side of the road. Cars Camber/caster is set up to run on the right or left, not both! Seen it a lot of times with Chyrsler imported to Oz, they never track straight and passing is like a circus act!

Right well first off, NO ONE is attacking Americans. God why do people get so fucking defensive, we're only having a discussion about preferences in cars... NOT which country is better!!! Just get that out of the way.

Secondly I drive an American owned car made in the UK, not a Jap import as you say. Which would be hard, as most Jap manufacturers have UK based works and dont need to import anything.

Thirdly Pomie cars dont really exist now. All our British car manufacturers have been bought out. Except Morgan, Farboud and Noble I believe. And ya not gonna get a family into any of those.

Actually my vehicle is american!!! It's made by Specialized.

and the GT40 was made and designed in England, but the new Ford GT is made in detriot and is a nice car, if a little impractical.

I can barely afford my rent and my internet connect, but your comments are positively retarded!!!

Well, I ain't never drove a European car and probly won't. I spent $2000 on my fwd truck - 6 years and about 200,000 miles ago. It has a standard 350v8, I can pull a freakin house, drive thru mud waste deep, got 2 - 18 gallon gas tanks that have only had 87 octane(costs almost a $100 to fill up - but I never do, cause I don't know how much longer it will last hehe), it leaks enough oil that I have never changed it - nope, not once.

AND I can carry more beer than all of you in mine....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

My old man has got a self build kit-car, an AC Cobra replica.

He's sitting on a 6.3ltr v8 ford, 0-60 sub 4seconds. thats around 450BHP.

I guess us Europeans can still make cars that shift? aye?

I'll throw in a picture or two.

From what I understand british roads are the best place to test handling on cars. wet winding roads... good for testing tires as well. This is just what I heard.
