What 5.4L mustang are you talking about? stock is a 4.6L 3V currently. Previous years where 4.6L SOHC and the cobras with the 4.6L DOHC and M90 Roots Supercharged 4.6L DOHC. Wanna talk about old engines, chevy was still using the pushrod 5.7L in the camaros. But you know what, it worked, they are monsters. You may make that 225 @ 4000 and up, but your low end is pretty poor. Take that turbo off and you have another civic driving around. Just like the Subarus, non WRX is a dog. but the WRX is quick as shit, same with the EVO's. Im not dogging the 4 cylinders, just love my v8 =)

Truthfully, american cars/engines are really based less on horsepower and more on torque. Horsepower is nothing more than a mathmatical calculation that gives additional (and often pointless) information that helps make car brochures look better and car journalists something more to write about. Torque is the real target. Torque is the real benchmark for a car's/engine's power. Big engines produce large amounts of torque. Those little japanese engines, turbo'ed or not, may produce "high" horsepower, but their torque numbers are rediculously small. The reason for their decent performance numbers is because they are very light weight. But, how many of those light weight japanese sports cars can survive a real life auto accident. I can say that the 2 american cars I had kept me alive and took me back home. That's my 2 cents. THanks.

Exactly....yeah the s2000 is quick for 240 hp. it only wieghs half of what a vette or mustang weighs....

(Torque x Engine speed) / 5,252 = Horsepower

actually corvettes and mustangs aren't as heavy as you think
corvette 3250lb
mustang around 3500
s2000 2850 that's not half of 3250 and 3500

NOT ALL JAPANESE SPORTS CARS ARE LIGHTWEIGHT!!!

that's the point of american cars..you can rev the piss out of a import, but put that motor in a 1966 chevy impala and see how fast you go...american cars are usually heavy, so you aim for more torque..the reason i like old american muscle cars is because they have style, and it's fun to make big heavy cars go fast...

"Horsepower Sells Cars...Torque wins Races"

My 03 Mustang GT - From Ford specs puts out 260hp & 302tq - That is naturally aspirated. I go to putting a supercharger i bump up power by 40 - 50%. I add Turbos I double it. The Nice thing about Mustangs is that with a few Bolt Ons you can have a hell of a car. Were as for alot of the High hp 4cl they are near being maxed out. just my.02.

ur referring to the v6 mustang = not a sports car...the 5.4 3v GT on the other hand...would spank your cupra

In a straight line... I still see the cupra whopping the mustang around a twisty track. FWD drive or not. They handle like a dream.

@ CIVIC, yea and another thing what most people dont realize is that having a car with '197' bhp is actually around 125hp or even less in reality.....it depends what type of manufacturer has made the motor, american cars are held back with the motors true power, and they are pretty easy to wake up......

watty, do a little research and see how many kilos its possible to get out of that car..because i guarantee its not made for daily driving

has everyone forgot about the 3.8 supercharged V6 by gm? more hp then a skyline...

By kilo's you mean fuel economy?

In which case i dont need to do any research, im a bit of a nerd when it comes to TVR. They claim it will do between 15 & 20 MPG (mile per gallon) Not sure what that is in Kilo's. Which is pretty good considering that the new Jaguar XJ will only give you 22 - 23 MPG, and thats a family car.

And yes its an everyday road going car... its not classed as a supercar its purely a sports car. Which incidently only cost £50,000.
