So I've been reading the whole tread and, even if I'm not a senior member, I've already put some effort in the site (mainly tagging and reporting) because I think it's worth it. So why not giving out all the ideas I've been keeping for the time I know WBW
About design/layout :
I don't know what was WBW before but I pretty much like the actual design altrough the main page is a bit overcharged. Looking ChatPlayground doesn't really make me want to change as it's design make me more think about an ad than a real website with lot's of content (but perhaps it's because I'm just looking at the homepage).
Also, the background is too dark and as you can do much more than watching on WBW (tagging, writing comments / posts) it would quickly cause massive eyes bleeding ^^
The ideal would be something between the actual design of WBW and the simplicity of ChatPlayground.
About the community / content access :
- WBW has a lot's of good things but as a free user (for now) I think something is laking and it's the quality of the pictures. Perhaps let the free users browse good quality (not full but still better than now) pictures even if that mean not accepting bad quality pictures, would be a good thing.
- Achievment in an adult site is an original idea and could be exploited with a rebuilt of the actual "User Score" (for example, comments shouldn't be considered in score to avoid bad quality comments like just a smiley or one word).
Like Tarquin said, speciality titles could be introduced for specific actions / profile from the member (some members mainly uploads pics, other are focuses on the forum etc.). We can already see these things in the profile of someone but making it a real status could involve member in a role for the community, and reward them for that.
About features :
- First of all : keep the tag system. That's just the best tag system I saw until now. (Almost) Everything is possible with it and the only limit is the mass a picture that are still untagged ^^
One suggestion would be to add to possibility to exclude tags (example : I want non-nude babes but NOT topless).
Enlarging and reorganizing the actual tag list could also be an improvment to have something near perfection
I insist on this because, in my opinion, the tag system make the difference with the other website/boards I know. And as I see lot's of people here wants the forum to take back a better place, making a link between galeries and forum posts could be great (but I think it would be a lot of work to code this).
- The credit system is good because it make you want to share or do something for the site so become someone between free lurking user and sponsor one.
Some change would be good like, as said by pussyliquor419, making adult porn picture viewable by a free user with some credits. The credit count for video could also be better if it was set according to quality/lenght of the video instead of the file size. (That would avoid bad compression videos of 1-2min for 100 credits ^^)
- The picture category could also be rethought as lot's of picture often suits into more than one category (for example, I'll miss a lot of Topless babes because lot's of them are in the bathroom category and, as I'm not found of bathroom I'll miss them ; that's just an example :P). Why not put the possibility for pictures to have several categories (or even make the tag system rule that sorting).
Just a few little things to finish :
- +1 on picture grouping
- remove the "grey filter" when tagging a picture as it's annoying to see the details
- changing page in the comments should not reload the whole page but be done with javascript/Ajax
- make the search feature in the forum find result after 2007 (or is it reserved to sponsor members ?)
- I don't really care but make the permanent taggers also able to win credits by tagging
That's about everything I wanted to share, hope it won't be too boring (and my english not too bad ^^).
And as a learning coder I just want to say : good luck ! (with all the features the site already has, it's a shitload of code you've got here coming ^^) and if it can give you some confort : I've rarely seen a so well coded website
