I was thinking about the "Hot or Not" page. I suppose it's there to give votes to pictures (but I don't know how pics are chosen there). So how about doing a page like that but for tags : kind of a "tagme" page where pics with no tag (or too few) are displayed. It could help to cover the old pics that are not tagged.

The last 100 votes names looks a bit too flashy for me. But it's hard to change that without also changing the graphic colors and thus making it less clear.

Does the few anonymous names means that you can vote without being logged in ? Or that you can chose not to show your name when you vote ?

You could also put the "Back" button in the bottom right (you've got lot's of space at the bottom of the preview) instead of the top. That would avoid losing space for it in the page, avoid miss clicking on the profile menu and add better visibility for this button.

I've got to give another vote for a Mobile App.

iPhone still dominates the market, but Android is more widely disbursed over a variety of devices (naturally, my own Droid included).

Full site functionality is highly unlikely, but the ability to up/download and view pics and vids is a must have.

Additionally, I have to vote for people who contribute being treated as sponsor members. A threshold for access could work based on the previous week or month of activity (i.e. achievements). Example: Forum posts and pic/video comments = 1 point each, Pic uploads (when approved) = 10 points, videos (after approval) = 5 points every 30 seconds or so of length... Maybe 1000 points = full access for a week? Activation button to use the points so that they aren't burned automatically.

Just a thought... lol

In the six years I've been here, I've seen many things (both good and bad) but the sense of community is the greatest.

The anonymous votes are accounts that are removed, the new scripting support removing your account. So i have to account for missing members.

iPhone/iPad/Android compatible site I am going to work on when I finish this first. something like: mobile.whatboyswant.com

The whole code of the new site is with the eye on contributing members have the same privileges as sponsors, even the ability to unlock sponsor membership for amount of credits. Later version will even have "achievements" with rewards ect.

Just an idea: Why not remove the news section and replace it with "forum topics" chosen/best viewed by the community?

Sounds great to me. I do like to read the news page tho'.

I was thinking about a "return to top of page" button in the Forum.

It is a feature on alot of forum sites these days.

Sounds like a good idea, its only been updated once since February and no ones really complained about it so I doubt that too many while be worried to see it go.

Replacing it with, like you say, a top threads of the week / month would be cool

Also can you ditch the reviews section ? Its another section that doesnt ever get used anymore

Eric does a great job on the news. Why doesn't it get posted on the front page when he does ?

The News section is quite time consuming as we can't just copy and paste a story from another source as thats called plagiarism. Its been left up to EL to manage it....as well as a whole host of other items, and I know that he simply doesn't have the time to manage it like he wants to. I think for the most part people enjoy it, and enjoy commenting on stories though. Perhaps we could take more of "Google News" approach and just post the link, and allow people to comment on it?

As for the News:

We used to get a lot of member activity there. I bet we still might if I was able to keep it updated at all. It's just a time consuming thing and it seems that I'm the only one who ever updates it, so when I get busy, it gets totally ignored. I just have too much to do and not enough time to get it done, and the site suffers because of it. My apologies.

I really like the news part of the site, and I think it adds to discussion, but we either need more active news mods or someone else who can devote more time to it alone in order for it to be done well.

Well then. people who like the news need to send in their resume's to become a news mod

Honda Bangs and I actually had a conversation some time ago about holding a contest to become a news moderator.

It would have been a thread that was open for like 3 weeks or a month or something, in which applicatants would just post news articles in the thread, as if they were posting them on the front page. The would be judged on quality, number of submissions, commentary and such. The winner would then become a news moderator.

We just never got around to it, because Bangles went to shoot stuff, Honda dropped off the planet, and I had a shit-ton of classwork to do and then got tied up with the rest of the site.

Maybe instead of having a news section on the site, that mods have to create and update all the time, why dont we just expand the panel forum or create a news / current affairs specific forum that the member base can post their own news stories etc and then all we need to do is have a mods mod it like all the other forums ???
