On another note, maybe this story could be used to prevent some people from using drugs.

That doesn't seem like a disproportionate response to you? Like, some poo and jizz = you should kill a guy seems a little bit of an uneven response to me.

What if it was just a guy who had a mental illness or whatever, and wasn't intending to hurt anyone?

That's pretty much what I thought. From the article, he just pushed the husband in the shoulder. That doesn't seem to be the most threatening behaviour.
Sure I'd be pissed, but I'd try to restrain the guy or neutralize him instead of shooting him

I am certainly not familiar with every mental illness out there, but I have never heard of one where a person doesn't know where the proper place to relieve themselves.

Lets not forget this guy also went into their child's room. Would let someone acting like that (mental illness or not) enter your kids room and not escalate your response?

I only put the comment about shitting and jerking off in there and left out the child's room part to illicit a laugh. That apparently failed.

The shitting and jerking off alone don't get you shot put the attempting to enter my child's room while naked and acting like that possibly does.

Either you can physically restrain him either you put your family in safety while waiting for the cops.
Shit and sperm never killed someone and the guy didn't seem to be threatening (unless he was hiding a weapon in his butthole) according to the article. So no, shooting him doesn't seem appropriate.

Some mental illness can cause that or drugs that induce delirium.

No, but it'd be enough to make we want to burn the house down and collect the insurance.

Restraining him is probably the best option, but when reading that article and asking myself how I would have responded I couldn't get the thought of the naked guy in Miami eating that guys face out of my head.
