It might have just been the bones in my foot cracking like when you crack your knuckles. Although usually when you crack your knuckles it doesn't hurt for hours afterward.

More likely the ligaments/cartilage that surrounds and stabilizes the many bones of the foot. And if that's the case, it kind of sucks, because they don't have any intrinsic bloodflow and therefore take a while to heal.

We'll see.
