Does anyone else feel that the "Politically Correct Police" have got everyone afraid to say anything anymore cause they are going to upset some portion of the masses? Not to mention that if someone overhears you say something to someone else or on the phone. They immediatly run crying foul to management or even run to an attorney that will sue.

I think that the new ad running on tv with Jane Lynch saying that the word "retarded" should be put in the same category as the words, nigger, spic, chink, fag, and kike, is retarded and the world needs to get some thicker skin and quit getting all butt hurt about stupid shit!!!

So, um, those are like, pretty hateful words, brah. It's not the words themselves that people get upset about. It's the history and attitudes behind them.

If I had a grandfather who was a slave, I might take offense to one of those words.

If I had family who was burned in fucking ovens 70 years ago, I might take offense to another of them.

Or if a member of my family had been beaten and dragged behind a pickup truck for miles just because he was gay, I might also take offense.


You see, it's not that people get offended by the words themselves, it's that mindset that's behind the words - the dehumanization of those groups of people through derogatory stereotypes and slurs. And that's why people get offended when people use them. Thus, the history of those words, and the attitudes behind people who use those words pejoratively, are certainly not "stupid shit"

@ EL - I think you may have misunderstood my rant, it's not that I condone the use of any, or all of those words, or the meanings behind them...

My point was the fact people feel the need to go on national tv to tell others what is and what is not a word you should be able to use, and in the context to use it...

For example, I may say something like... You're acting retarded... or... The car is being retarded again...

I'm not using it in a manner to "put down" another person or group of people, I'm merely using it as a description that just about everybody understands...

I usually think it's funny when someone insults another person, who is trying to stand out from the crowd.

Like scene, emo and goth kids...I love when I other people call them jackasses.

I tend to think old people are terrible at everything.

Like, when an old person at Wal-Mart or in any store is like "Can I help you with something." I always say no...because one, they probably have no idea how to help me, and two, if they broke a hip while trying to fetch me a chocolate dildo off the shelf, I'd probably have to send them a card or something.

Old people often suck ass. They're slow and in my way on the roads, and get money off of their lunch at Denny's because they're old, and that's not really fair.
