One of Elvis Presley’s favorites sandwiches was the Fool’s Gold Loaf. I posted the recipe earlier in another thread but I’ll save you the trouble and post it here along with other ginormous goodies.

This sandwich got me to thinking about food porn. As you will see, it’s not just America that’s obsessed with burgers and such.

Elvis is one of the few people in history who has his birthday celebrated and the date of his death commemorated almost like a national holiday.
You probably know about the Peanut Butter and Nanner sandwiches- the gloppy mess Elvis's cook often made him. Elvis said the best sandwich he ever ate was the FOOL'S GOLD LOAF. It was a sandwich made by the Colorado Mine Company restaurant in Denver that cost $49.50.
The legend goes that one night in 1976, Elvis had two police friends from Denver visiting him at Graceland and talk turned to the FOOL'S GOLD LOAF and how they all wished they had one. So they hopped into Elvis's jet-TCB and flew to Denver. The restaurant delivered the sandwiches to the airport hangar and Elvis and his buddies devoured them and washed it down with Dom Perignon. Here's the recipe:
o 2 T margarine
o 1 loaf Italian white bread
o 1 lb bacon slices
o 1 jar of smooth peanut butter
o 1 jar of grape jelly
Heat an oven to 450 degrees. Cut the loaf of bread in half and hollow it out. Rub margarine all over the outside of the bread, slather on the jar of peanut butter then stick it in the oven. Take out the bread when it gets toasty and the peanut butter warm and gooey. Add the jar of grape jelly. You can either put the bacon in the hollowed out bread cavity or between the peanut butter and jelly.
Elvis could eat one by himself.

Here’s Toronto chef Ted Reader and his 267 kg beef burger that he’s hoping will help him become the Guinness world Record keeper of the world's largest burger.
"All I want today is to build the world's biggest burger and so we try rally to break the record," he said as he unveiled the beast.
"The size is more than 300 times the burger we eat every day."

Wagyu Japanese beef, white truffles, onion tempura prepared in Cristal champagne and Pata Negra prosciutto all sat between the modest-looking bun. Did you get fries and a Coke for your £95? Did you heck.

Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub in Pennsylvania has been in constant pursuit of the title of World’s biggest burger after unleashing its famed Olde 96er in 1998.
Using a whopping 6 pounds of meat, one large onion, two whole tomatoes, one half head of lettuce, 1 1/4 pounds of cheese, top and bottom buns, the sandwich is finished off with a cup each of mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, banana peppers and some pickles.

Britain's largest and most fattening burger, however, is the artery-busting Super Scooby which is pictured below next to a humble Big Mac.
Racking up a worrying 2,645 calories -  a full 145 calories beyond the daily recommended limit for men - it's made and sold by the Jolly Fryer takeaway in Bristol.

JUCY LUCY or JUICY LUCY
Burger with molten cheese in the center.
There is a food fight in Minneapolis between Matt's Bar that calls it Jucy Lucy and the 5-8 Club that calls it Juicy Lucy over who invented it.

The Fifth Third Burger from West Michigan Whitecaps Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, Michigan. Sort of a frito pie on top of a giant burger pattie. It is 1.66 lbs. of meat with chili, cheese, lettuce, fritos, sour cream, salsa, tomatoes. Cost about $20. They say it can feed 1 -4 people. You could cut into sixths and everyone would still be full.

It hurts to look at some of these things, much less knowing people eat this stuff.

Heart-Attack-On-A-Plate

Yeah, when I was younger a cheeseburger was my favorite . I'm 99.997% vegetarian now because I DID have a heart attack.

I mostly "eat" with my eyes not...lol. I'm not totally addicted to The Food Network and Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've seen a few of these monsters on there. I'm not vegetarian...yet, but I do often go fairly long periods of time without eating meat. Good for you that you've been able to do it...mostly.

Another 5 ***** for this Post as well. As u are aware, yes we do eat well Downunder! (About 65% of the population are either obese or over-weight!) The children are the worst offenders, perhaps encouraged by their parents?

You're welcome for the mention...I think...

Sadly, your last sentence is all too true.
