Pic Mods

So if we see a blurry or fuzzy pic or low quality, we should report it then right?

If it was really bad i might but i never report stuff like that. If i see a kid in a pic or a repost or something that really looks underage i report it! Mostly repost though.


Yea and you get credits for it... a correct report!

but i check em and the ones i report are usually gone the next day!

After perusing this thread, and the thread Harley started about pics being modded, I don't believe the system is, can, or will, ever be perfect, we do our best and thats all that can be expected.

Like I said before I don't know how the hell you do it in the first place, so my hat's off to you all!

I think the mods do a pretty good job, I personally just fill up the queue and what gets approved gets posted and what doesn't I don't sweat it. I mean I try not to upload pics that I know I've seen before but still I'm sure some are ones that are already here that I've never seen before.

Just my opinion but I give props to the pic mods because it seems like a rough job and lately everyone seems to be ragging on them. I say keep up the good work

I think the crew here do a good job, they get a hell of a lot of shit and little credit.
If it wasn't for their hard work this wouldn't be the only site im happy to subscribe to.

I was hoping we were going to have a genuine conversation about this, since it was important enough for everyone to get into a fight about earlier and questions were asked (both directions). I made an effort to answer the questions directed at me, and presumed that since they were being asked this was a genuine discussion.

I've in turn asked a few simple questions, but not gotten a response to them.

That leaves me wondering if it's a case of people feeling like, "Well, they don't know the fuck they're doing and they're idiots so let's not even bother pursuing this discussion" or if it's a case of "It doesn't really matter what you want to know, it's none of your fucking business" or perhaps, "I don't even care. We're not really planning to change anything anyway regardless of what's said."

Questions were asked. The ones that were asked of me, I answered as best I could and even went so far as to bother other people to get a more clear answer when they get a chance.

I was under the impression - because that impression was willfully presented to me - that there was a genuine back and forth interest here.



If that's not the case, that's cool. But just saying "We can't" isn't going to resolve anything. The complaints will still come. Perhaps if it's explained to the plebes what the situation actually is and what the issues are, the plebes will explain that to others when topics like this come up.

But ah... Yeah. I was asked questions, I answered. I asked questions. If none of the "not in the loop" people on this site are informed, expect this issue to keep coming up.

It's not fair to expect people not to raise an issue when they don't have a clear understanding of why a less than ideal situation exists.

In other words - it appeared we were having a genuine discussion here that was being somewhat productive. I hope that's still the case.

Some people in this thread cared enough to start a fight. It'd be nice if they cared enough to either explain the situation or provide a few simple answers. If one cares enough to attack someone, I think it's reasonable and wise to care enough to inform people so that the argument doesn't come up as often in the future too.

If the purpose of posting in this thread wasn't to address the issue and come to some understanding, then what was the purpose?

Well, I've honestly been following the conversation, but unless Fefe or the Diz man pop in here...there isn't a lot to be said really. I could make a thread in the office, but that's kinda what this thread is for, have two threads on the same subject would be useless. One of you could PM Fefe or Diz with a link to this thread. But they might ban you back to the stone age..(they won't actually do that)...

People are just busy, and I'm sure one of them will roll in here soon enough and respond to any questions or concerns..since they're cool like that. Plus, this thread will not result in a simple answer like "oh hey, you're right, more mods amirite!"...that's just not going to happen. Dude you are right on. There has to be a better answer to posting pics here or I guess we just have to post them to the forum instead. I would post way more personal pics of girls I have photograph over the years and its all NEW STUFF NEVER SEEN Before. But every time I try only 1 out of every 10 might make it so I don't even bother posting my pics.

I hope someone can fix this issue or maybe we should start are own site.

We've always made it fairly clear, that if you're uploading photos that you took yourself, that you say that in the description when you upload them. There is an optional description box...even when you upload using a zip file. It lets the mods know you took them yourself, and they will be uploaded. It's very easy to get upset, but like others have said, it's very difficult sometimes to tell the difference between a professional photograph and an amateur with an amazing camera, or abnormally hot wife(gf). Sometimes that's what happens, a picture LOOKS professional, but is actually amateur..people do make mistakes. If you do what I mentioned there, and make it clear you took the photos..then it's just easier for us as moderators.

We don't get paid guys, it's not like we're kicking back counting our paychecks or something. Picture modding is hard work, done for free by moderators. We even have a special moderator (Screwy) who is arguably the best at picture recognition, and as far as I know, his only job is to delete reposts. It's not easy, it's not terribly fun, and if you don't know what you're doing, you just make more work for everyone else.

Say we hire 10 more guys...these 10 guys have no fucking clue who are pro and who aren't...the pictures in the gallery, that type of thing..they're just going to cause a massive clusterfuck. That's why it's much easier to do what Fefe does and start them off 1-2 at a time, so other mods can keep an eye on the new uploads for mistakes...so they learn faster.

It's not a simple situation, like I said in my earlier post, it's complicated. Sometimes the queue can be very frustrating when you see someone has uploaded a whole fucking zip file of pictures from Raven Rileys site or something. People constantly disregard the rules for uploading, there are many, many pro pictures, and stamped pictures. Sometimes people try to edit out the stamps so we can't see them. Can you imagine how frustrating that is? It makes more work for us, and in that we approve less pictures, so you guys have to wait longer. It will never be as simple as "hire lots of people"..

Thousands and thousands a week guys..think about how long it would take you to go into hot or not, and look at 1000 pictures. Again, like I said, we're not perfect...we're just doing the best that we can, there is no simple solution. Hopefully Diz or Fefe will show up at some point in the near future, and give you guys more serious business answers.

With all due respect, I just can't believe that's an accurate assessment. The 10% approval rate that you just sited is way out of line with the overall approval rate for pictures. Not to pick on any one member, but if you look at the other topic about pic modding right now "Wondering?" there's another member curious why so many of his pics get deleted. The mods screencapped his queue and gave a reason for each. Only 1/4th of them were not positively identified by the mods as rejectable, and that doesn't even count the pics that other members identified as reposts that the mods didn't flag. Being a movie mod who also sees a queue full of reposts, professional, and stamped content on a daily basis, I just have to give the mods the benefit of the doubt until the exact content in question can be examined. Some of it's subjective, but for myself, I'm confident that the overwhelming majority of pics that get deleted are for a legitimate reasons.

Tarquin, about 11. You can find a list of mods and the areas they work in the "help" dropdown at the top of every WBW page, but that seems to be about how many mods regularly work the pic queue right now, there are another 6 or 7 others (ie globals) who also delete a significant number of pics from the queue and/or gallery, I would guess those would mostly be reposts that slipped through, or reported pics.

In reference to screwy, yeah, that guy's crazy good, all you guys trying to cover up and disguise watermarks on copyrighted pics are wasting your time, he'll burn you down.

Well... How about this... You guys have regular users helping to tag photos. Maybe regular users could get credits by helping out with the picture queue too? I can elaborate if someone wants me to.

Just spit-balling mind you. I'm not saying anything I spout here is a good idea. I'm just shitting ideas. 11 Pic mods doesn't sound like a lot to me, to be honest. I have that many mods on a site with only 80k users and no pictures or other upload queues at all. Granted it's an especially rowdy site (Yea, far more than this crowd if you can believe that)... But still. That's not a lot of mods when I think of the size of this site and this community. 800k users, dude. That's the second-biggest community I've ever seen.

I don't think that's a lot of mods considering the size of the community here.

I know for a fact that there are well over 100 active mods on HotorNot.com that are there solely to approve and reject picture submissions.
