@Lindros I like the whole "Helen of Troy" example but look at it another way. Ultimately it works in her favor as a sort of jack-ass repellent, she doesn't have to go through the whole process of sizing them up.
I actually use this to my advantage quite often when doing business. If I'm trying to figure a client out and what they like or don't like I'll just roll up my sleeves. The results are instant, I either get the curious investigative look or the awkward, disapproving look. At that moment I know exactly how to handle them, like I said earlier it's human nature. Now it works the other way too, those that disapprove will label me as rebellious, trashy, and uneducated, but they are sadly mistaken and their underestimations play to my advantage. I've been doing this since I was sixteen and it has NEVER failed. It's surprising how many people wear there opinions on their sleeves, or in this case under my sleeves.
