This conversation has now grown boring. But before a sensible mod flushes it, I have one comment:

Regardless of who pulls the triggers in Ukraine, it is Putin who is pulling the strings.

Well Russia has again massed 40 something thousand troops on the border. A good many warplanes and anti missile equipment. Putin is set to retaliate against sanctions"

President Vladimir Putin ordered the government to prepare a response to U.S. and European sanctions as Poland warned that a renewed buildup of Russian troops on Ukraine’s border raises the specter of a possible invasion.

“Unfortunately, Russia has restored its combat readiness on the Ukraine border with more than a dozen battalion-sized combat groups,” Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, who gave no indication an incursion was imminent, told TVN24 BiS television today. “There’s a lot of equipment. This is the sort of thing one does to exert pressure or to invade.”

Now Russia is going to ban USA agriculture product from being imported. Reports say European ag products will be next. I don't know where this is headed. but it doesn't look like a happy ending. Putin has backed himself into a corner. If he backs down then the Russian people will turn on him. All they have left is their pride. Putin couldn't deliver them jobs. So the next best thing is putting the USSR back together. Russia is also looking into blocking European flights over Siberia so they would have a hard time getting to Asia. I think if that happens then military conflict can't be far behind. Putin says the Russian Federation is being threatened. He is really playing Russian roulette because the USA is far advanced militarily than Russia is in high tech weaponry. We don't unleash much of our power on tiny 3 world countries. In a conflict with Russia, there would be no holding back on the devastating aspects of a Military with an $800 billion+ annual budget. Most Americans don't even know what we are capable of...

Umm, your buddy Obama isn't delivering the jobs either. Russia does not need to be as high-tech as we are because they have nukes too and we cannot shot down all missiles with 100% accuracy and It would not take many nukes to obliterate the world. Besides that Russia could just dump all their treasury bonds and help expedite the collapse of the dollar as the world's reserve currency.

Actually, the jobless rate is on the decline, interest rates are under control, and the stock market has been setting new records lately. The economy is clearly recovering. Unemployment is in fact, declining.

Also, I don't think Nightcruiser is much of an Obama fan if I recall correctly. Just because someone doesn't buy into your brand of zealotry doesn't mean they must be from the opposite end of the political spectrum. I do love it when anyone who disagrees with certain viewpoints they're automatically labeled by some though.

True enough, at least as far as anyone can prove.

Yea the economy is much improved here. The Federal Reserve is phasing out Stimulus money this year. The annual budget deficit dropping due the more employed people paying taxes. There are a lot of jobs that people don't qualify for though. I doubt if Russia would commit suicide by resorting to Nukes just to not win a war. I am saying in a conventional war Russia would be devastated. Sure we would take some hits too. No telling what kind of gadgetry we have to keep Missiles from being launched . I hope it doesn't come down to a war but I don't see Putin stopping at just Ukraine

Some say I have been blowing this out of proportion . Well look at what one high up Putin adviser has to say:

World War on Russia’s Mind When U.S. Duels Over Ukraine

Aug. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Bloomberg's Alan Bjerga reports on the Russian ban on food imports from the United States, EU, Canada, Australia and Norway as President Vladimir Putin retaliates against sanctions levied on the nation. (Source: Bloomberg)

EU, Russia Have Little Appetite for More Sanctions

From his perch as Vladimir Putin’s adviser for building ties with fellow former Soviet republics, Sergei Glazyev perceives the world shifting to a war footing.

There’s a war waged against Russia with economic sanctions and military conflicts roiling Ukraine to Iraq, according to Glazyev, 53, an academician and a native of Ukraine who for the past two years has advised Putin on integration with Belarus and Kazakhstan. Putin struck back this week with a ban on U.S. and European food imports that may benefit the former Soviet allies.

If the column of military vehicles that Ukraine blew up today do indeed turn out to be Russian, I'd say that's a game-changer.

I really don't see Russia putting plainly marked vehicles in Ukraine though. I think that's a bit of a stretch to think that they'd roll plainly marked vehicles right through the city.

I guess some would want this thread to die because some said Russia only wanted Crimea because Crimea wanted them. But now we have proved Russia wants all of Ukraine. Probably just embarrassing to those that said otherwise

The fact is so far Putin is way ahead of all the EU and US politicians when it comes to planning and btw his politics isn't far off what US has been doing around the world

Quit being such a passive aggressive pussy and just say my name.

Also, I never once said Putin didn't want all of Ukraine. If you would quit being a self centered smug asshole and actually read my posts, you'd have seen that I said time and time again that there is some level of support from Ukrainian citizens to rejoin Russia, and in some parts of the country that support is stronger than in other parts.

So because someone has an opinion on something, that makes them stupid? Well, in that case you must be king of the stupids.
