Its hard to belive that the 2 best teams are in the Big Ten. that is why the BCS sucks. Ohio Stae isn't bad but Michigan... not a top 5 team... Michigan's hardest team was ND... ND has been over rated for at least 10 years. You put either team in the SEC and let them get beat up every week buy quality teams they would be both lucky to even see a BCS bowl... much less nation chapionship.

The toughest conference to play against is the PAC-10.

Oh wait....it isn't the teams that are tough it is the conference referees.

Michigan by 2.

I will debate with anyone regarding strength of conferences or schedules. Teams in the Big 10 are playing legitimate teams (no North Texas, Florida A&M, and other schools no one has heard from except in movies) week in and week out, year in and year out. Not hard to imagine teams #1 & #2 in this conference pitch....it's the toughest conference in NCAA D-1 football. DocBrewski and I will be drinkin' in celebration on Saturday for our National Championship bound Buckeyes!!!!

I live in Columbus OH, the capital of Ohio and the home of "The Ohio State University" - I have no aligence to them, as I played college football for Syracuse in the 80's... that said, the only place in the entire world where the yearly OSU-UM game is "Huge", as the initial poster claimed, is with OSU and want-to-be OSU fans... the other 99.999999% of the country, including me and my family and, suprisingly, a lot of my neighbors here in the suburbs, could not give a rat's ass either way..... BTW, whenever there is a Home game for OSU, this city of approx 1 million people, pretty much closes down...go figure!

I'm sorry, no offense, but the Big10+1 is NOT the toughest conf in the country.
that distinction goes to the SEC. those schools beat the shit out of each other every week, and there's barely a saturday that comes where the low-end of the conference doesn't come in and upset a highly ranked opponent on the high end. USC is good. OSU is good. Mich is good. But you put them in a conference like the SEC and there's no way they go undefeated playing Ga. Tenn. Fla. Bama. LSU. Arkansas. Hell, even Vandy and Kentucky and S. Carolina will step up and knock off a powerhouse. That simply does not happen with any regularity in the Big10...Mich St? Indiana? Purdue? Illinois? Northwestern? Occasionally those school have a stellar year. but they are not capable of being spoilers every year, as are the lower-tier SEC schools.
Nothing against the Big 10...great schools in OSU, Mich, Wisc, Iowa, PSU and occasionally Minn. All would survive well in the SEC. but they wouldn't survive as they do in the Big 10.

Thats why if you play in the SEC they give you extra points in the BCS because they know it is the toughest... they don't do that in the Big 10... um wonder why I just can't wait unitl a school like Rutgers wins out and complains about not being in the nation championship and gets stuck playing a team like auburn and gets blown out.

The SEC is not the toughest conference in the country, that is a farce. The SEC plays spread speed ball, not grind it out football that is played in the BIG TEN. Is the BIG 10 the toughest I don't know but in my view the SEC is consistently over rated, and SEC teams would get wiped out playing a season in the Big 10!

Starkain is right on this one. If the SEC had to play hard nose, grind out football like the Big 10, they would be in tough shape!

**** OFF TOPIC ****

I wonder how many more times the coach of Fresno State will open his big mouth and say "We will take on any team, anywhere anytime".

I'd like to see him play OSU or Michigan just once. How many times can a coach let his team get their ass kicked before he just decides to play teams along the same caliber?

Yeah, us (Boise St. fan here) lowly WAC teams can't really compete with the big boys on a regular basis. Fresno St. hasn't been good since David Carr left. But I like that they try because on the off chance they beat one of the big teams, it makes us look better when we beat them.

I'm gonna go with Michigan this weekend.

The SEC is by far the toughest conference. They have the biggest, fastest and most talented teams on a regular basis.

Big Ten? Are you people out of your fucking minds? The big ten has two very good teams and one good one (Wisconsin) and the rest of the conference blows. The 4th best is Purdue...are you fucking kidding me?
I'd argue that the lowly ACC is better than the Big Ten this year. At least there is a core of good teams rather than a few good teams and the rest shit.

The SEC has 5 ranked teams, which should be higher except that every week SEC teams are beating up on each other.

Any big ten team should be grateful for getting an invite to the vagisil.com bowl
