Fabricator, You already know why. You & I in that upper middle class are paying for obama phones, housing, welfare, obamacare, food stamps etc etc.
This is the "redistribution of wealth" he has been preaching about. Your insurance & utility bills are rising to make up for the low income housing utilities.
Those people vote for their living as you & I work for ours..... Sounds fair right??

Unless you make more than $170-180k a year, you're in the group that is losing ground due to stratification of society. Benefits aren't going to the poors, they're going to the already super rich.
The problem is people like you guys think that your money is being appropriated to the less fortunate, when in fact it's the other way around; it's going to fund a new guilded age, in which monstrously rich oligarchs control the levers of the government and sell it to you by scapegoating the less fortunate in society.
A shame, really.

That is the funniest most rediculous nonsense you have posted yet.
Once again, you are speaking without knowing the facts.
Please enlighten us on who pays for everyones freebies & handouts then??

Again I barely read all the posts here but... I saw a few people spouting off about being more dependent on the government for money and all that jazz... What do you think money is? If the US government collapses all your hard earned dollar will be worth NOTHING. You're all dependent on the government already. If you can't see that money is what binds you to the government you need to open your eyes. As long as there's money you will be controlled. Let's say you live in the middle on NOWHERE, with only one other small group of people living there, how much of your pieces of paper do you think it would take for them to give you some food if you were starving and they are almost out of food too? Money, digital, paper or precious metals have the illusion of value while having no real value at all.

Not Obamacare, but did you notice that Ireland also had a financial crisis? That Greece had one as well? That the contagion spread through Spain and Portugal and Germany, etc. How many American minorities were buying houses in Ireland and Portugal and Spain and Greece, etc.?
The financial crisis was caused by a lot of factors, but the most important was the worldwide tendency for banks try to make more money by securitizing mortgages and other dodgy assets. It was because when those risky bets failed the Glass Stegall Act, which has served to separate retail everyday banking from investment banking, had been eliminated by the [Link]. So as the investment arms of these banks fell they were tied to the retail banking side of things, bringing everything down with it. That's why a Wall St. crisis turned into a crisis throught the rest of the economy, which didn't happen during the S&L crisis, or during the crash of 1987, or during the crash associated with the LTCM bailout, or during the popping of the tech bubble in the late 90s, or the Asian or Russian financial crises of the same time.
You're right! The financial meltdown was caused by Wall-street and Banks making risky investments with other peoples money. $16 Trillion in credit default swaps. Uninsured selling of bank notes. The Real Estate market went bad in a normal cycle and buyers were left with notes that were worth a lot less than advertised. Then there were other high risk investments banks were making. Making loans to normally less than qualified folks eyc

The US government is not in anyway shape or form, near collapsing . The economy has greatly improved and therefore so has the Government revenue. Then there is the discovery of shale oil and a lot more natural gas--ie fracking

yeah you keep telling yourself that the government's not near collapse

Unemployment dropped to the 7% range which mean the Federal Reserve will probably cut back on pumping money into the economy. I read this in the NY times yesterday. The focus will then start to be cutting back on the deficit. The FR doesn't seem to be worried about deficits. We have a $16 trillion economy. The Afghan war is ending next year which will save a lot of money. The US went through the Great Depression and didn't collapse
Althalus 11 years ago
My points wasn't that the US is near collapse. My point was IF a government collapses their money isn't "worth" the paper it's printed on. The government already own all of our lives, except for a select few.

You must live up to your handle, because that is absolutely wrong.

I see signs of the economy improving in my area ie Industry and retail expansion. The problem is that these are 100s of jobs when we need 1000s of jobs. Lots of temp jobs. Lots of jobs people are not qualified for...
Today I sign up for Obama care. No choice really. I need Insurance anyway. I don't want my money to go toward paying fines. I guess even a cheap crummy policy is better than no policy.

Originally posted by thegame14ah, love to use that word..... Who defaulted on the loans that caused the collapse???? It wasnt buying houses it was who bought houses they couldnt afford due to loosened standards and then couldnt pay their loans back and went into foreclosure.... statistically what was the higher percentage of people who defaulted.... go ahead find it......
No, to try to so brazenly pin a global economic recession on US minorities is fairly racist. And of course the next link that was posted that shows that black and Latino individuals were more likely to go into foreclosure doesn't demonstrate that they are at fault, either. A basic understanding if the mortgage process would've put that theory to rest already...
People apply for mortgages, banks make the determination of what these people can afford and approve them for "x" amount. The vast majority of people don't understand the qualification process and rely on what the experts tell them during this process, regardless of their race/background. So what this amounted to over the last twenty years or so is that racial and ethnic minorities were taken advantage of by banks and closing companies at a disproportionate rate. The companies churn the file and get closing costs out of the equity if the home, which accrued simply by the passing of time during a period when real estate values increased when they really shouldn't have. People's payments went up and hey we're told it was fine because they were already getting the value of their homes out.
Predatory lending was a very real thing leading up to the financial crisis the US went through. Laws to prevent more of the same have disproportionately benefitted minorities, who were the primary targets. These groups didn't go through foreclosure as much because, as noted, real estate values just kept going up. You hit tough times, sell the property instead because that was still a possibility. That's not usually a possibility when your home has negative equity.
Of course, talking about the foreclosure crisis has absolutely nothing to do with the ACA. And blaming poor people (who are often minorities) for falling to sophisticated lending fraud scams that cost the lenders billions in fines/settlements (which hasn't been. Eay enough to compensate victims for their losses) is completely ridiculous.

yes blaming people for failing to understand that if you dont have a job, downpayment or money you cant afford a house is not their fault... This is the new sad era of our country and generation why, no accountability, no responsibility, it is ALWAYS someone else's fault and someone else's responsibility to provide for them.....
And I took an entire semester on analyzing the recession and it all starting with clinton loosening the credit standards because he said that more minorities should be able to own houses, which was a payback since they were a driving force in his election.... but ignore those facts... and just keep blaming others and taking no responsibiilty, that is the this generation, just sue someone or go on welfare, anything other than working hard and being responsible....It is the government's job to provide people with jobs, healthcare, retirement, no one should have to do anything......noted sarcasm......

Thegame14....BRAVO!! Everything you said is spot on target with factual data.
The RACE CARD is still the only answer they can play. That is actually sad that they continue to play that because it keeps people from facing & dealing with reality & facts.
thegame14 11 years ago
that is all they can do moss, is play the race card or blame bush..... Cause just like the generation that helped vote him in, they dont take any responsibility for themselves, they dont want to work hard, plan for retirement, take care of their health or their kids..... Just let the government give them everything, and they can stay poor and lazy forever....but that is the sad part, they are ok with being lazy, not taking responsibility for anything and just letting the government tell them how to live their lives....
thegame14 11 years ago
and the other sad part is they cant even have a logical argument, they are told by the liberal media that anyone who is against Obama or Obamacare, that they are to play the race card and call people racist or to blame bush, so when I see people use those arguments, it just tells me that the person is not intelligent, cannot think on their own, and is just a sad individual overall... they are just sheep of the liberal media machine, and it makes me laugh when they try and say stupid things like Hannity or fox news, 95% of the media is controlled be democrats, so that makes no sense either, but it is just funny...
