220 a month for a family plan that covers everything, except plastic surgery is pretty much unheard of here, a single male in his 20's can get a basic 80/20 plan for around 100 or so a month, family plans and everything else just goes up from there...

Wow...

I have some elderly customers that keep me informed of their health care costs, some pay, for a couple, upwards of 400 to 500 a month, in addition to their medicare coverage

I pay nothing else from that..
whatever the insurance dont/wont cover...i can get it for nothing in the public system.
GP visits i pay, but get most of it back by making a claim, or i can go to ANY doctor that fully bulk bills and pay nothing..

I pay $12,000 a year for health insurance for my family. I had a fluke cancer issue that is now clear, but it is still a pre-existing condition. Hence the price...

Basically that's why I like the $5,000 check that McCain's health insurance plan would give me. It would almost pay for 50% of our annual cost. I like to control everything about my health coverage for my family. I don't want to be on the same medical as senators. I want to do my own thing.

To battle obesity, Britain creates nine 'healthy towns'

Fri Nov 14, 4:00 am ETLondon – In Manchester, Britain's third largest city with half a million people, residents will begin carrying electronic tracking tags that log how far they run or cycle each day. The tag will even help track how many calories residents burn. Those who hit the running trail every morning will be rewarded with coupons at stores and even days off work.

This opens up a huge can of worms.

Had an appendectomy a month ago. Total bill, so far,(they are still coming in) is almost $35,000. For a routine procedure!!! That included a three day hospital stay.

About $10,000 of the bill is from the hospital that started the procedure, then had to bail when the anesthesiologist couldn't intubate me. I took a 45 minute ambulance ride($3000) to another hospital to finish the procedure. Just plain outrageous.
