I am an avid reader... My favorite authors are (in no particular order):

Piers Anthony
JRR Tolkien
Kim Harrison
RA Salvatore
Laurell K Hamilton
Anne Rice
Terry Brooks

If you know what types of books they write, you'll see a definite pattern.

Yep!! Big fan of all of them as well!
If your a fantasy buff I highly recommend George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones books. Great fantasy with a more adult feel to it.
I also just finished The Road and Child of God by Cormac McCarthy.

Yeah, Cormac McCarthy's pretty great. His books make Faulkner look like a jovial trip through an idyllic South.

I loved reading Millineum Hospitality series by Charles Hall. Military dude interacts with tall white aliens. Believe it or not. Lost City of Z Charles Gann investigates Percy Fawcetts search for the lost city of Gold in the Amazon. A Course in Miracles power of the mind. Carlos Casteneda grandfather of the new age possibly.

Thanks for the suggestions... I'll see what my local library has. I was disappointed by the fact that they didn't have any of the authors I listed, though... I pretty much own all of the books I've read.

Books gave my eyes myopia and my mind superpowers. Anyone else have this effect on them as well??

dude... you're talking to someone that is working on a second 6 foot bookcase. The first one is bursting at the seams. It's a great escape. I can't wait until the weather gets better so I can go out to the river with a book and just read the day away.

Impressive book cases, I agree with the escaping, and I can't wait until I have time to just escape to nature and read as well. Thoreau apparently had the same desire.

Well, but Thoreau wrote books about being a bean counter. I'm not a fan; transcendentalism is foolish.

Wait... I'm confused... I googled Alphabet of Manliness and came up with some sort of graphic novel... is that right?

some science, local and psych mags (Scientific American, Psychology Today), the local newspapers. I usually have a few books on the go.

I can't wait until the Kindle comes down in price! Seems like a good idea, but I would prefer if you could buy any book from any bookstore. Right now, it's only specific to Amazon.com. Then I can read anywhere... Even at work instead of actually doing work!

Currently reading "Red Badge of Courage" by Crane.

It's required reading, but it's not too bad.

Working on The Rise of Horus. If anyone has ever played Warhammer 40k they will dig it.

I'll have to look into it...

@EL... Required Reading?? WTF are you doing that for? Actually, the only required reading that I dug was The Hobbit... I had to read Grapes of Wrath, Lord of the Flies, Macbeth, Great Expectations, Streetcar Named Desire, The Scarlet Letter, The Catcher in the Rye... you name it, I pretty much HAD to read it.... that nothing compared to what I WANT to read nowadays...
