Alas, I did not. I do have a pic of a hawk in my backyard eating a snake.
I was on the deck and saw him from behind. He was mantling and I could see the snake flop every now and then.
I found some slides but my scanner does not work with transparent material. I have to snag pics from the net until I can work something out.

I know I posted this in another thread, but here are a few pics from a recent scuba diving trip to Hawaii.

Cool, I've never done any underwater photography before ... nice pics!!

Thanks, I've got an olympus camera that can be fully submerged to 10 meters even without any housing, so for snorkeling I don't use a housing, but for the shark pics we were at about 25 meters so I have a housing for that kind of depth.
[Deleted] 14 years ago
Nice turtle and butterfly fish pics. I wonder what would happen if you forgot to put the housing on before a deeper dive of say 40 meters? would the camera implode? I'd like to see what that looks like.
[Deleted] 14 years ago
I think it would just leak and wreck the camera, and I can't dive that deep yet anyway...I'm not an advanced diver yet. ):
hornithologist 14 years ago
You must need a fairly powerful flashlight to get a picture at that depth (25m) I'm guessing? Does someone else hold the light while you take the pics?
[Deleted] 14 years ago
It depends where you dive, but believe it or not, none of these pics required additional lighting. Hawaii, and especially the Molokini dive site (shark pic) have amazing visibility.

Looks like a beautiful site for a dive SP. Must have been a blast.
Well, since I am Mr. Mom these days, and my baby girl is too young (5 months) to take out into the wild ... I'll have to dig deep and pull some photos from 2 years ago.
These pictures are from northern Minnesota, a town called Ely.

A black bear. Common in this area of Minnesota.

I must admit though, these are not wild bears. They are enclosed at The International Bear Center in Ely, MN. You can tell by how fat and out of shape these guys are, that they are not wild animals. Here is what a wild one would look like. I took this in Grantsburg, WI in 2008.

Fantastic bear pictures! Even though they're not wild, looks like you got pretty close...or have a very good lens. That one bear is almost as fat as a grizzly. lol

Thanks ... and yeah, I'm pretty close, about 10 to 15 meters probably. Up on a deck that overlooks the enclosure. I have a decent lens, mid-range I guess in price. I went through this a few pages back, but I shoot with a Sony A300 body, Sony 70-300 G series lens. Some day, I hope to step up to one of the higher end lenses, like a $1500 - $2000 range ... see if I can get some decent shots.
@mistral ... thanks!!

Well, still not able to get out, so I'll have to bore you with San Diego Zoo pics from a couple years ago. Yes, I prefer taking pics of wild animals, but if my wife does drag me to a zoo, I will bring my camera.
First off, while the wife was in the restroom, I thought I'd try and get some pussy ...
Amur Leopard

Then, the Brown Bears were quite active ...

And, one of my favorite animals of the world, which eats monkies...
Harpy Eagle

Some fox has been strutting by the house quite often lately. I have been unable to score. My wife finally shot the bitch ...
...
as I was running errands. She said it caught something and sat down to eat right in the neighbors front yard. I'm assuming it's a rabbitt, but I have yet to investigate further. The pic quality isn't the greatest because it is through our front window. Actually, I don't even know if it was a female ... but it was fun to tell the story that way.
