I don't think the engine is able to rum backwards, it may be because you're using low quality gas.

You never shouldn't trust in russian gas. I know people who fueled in russia, and then the car had huge issues of running. The spark plugs painted to blue color and shit. But you're living in ukraine, so can't say anything about the quality.

*Katia*.. I doubt that your engine is running backwards.. its most likely since the engine won't turn off that its an electric problem in the ignition. And the reversing in first gear may be the transmision box thats broken.. go se a mekanik.. scrap your car and bye a new one.. no one should drive a LADA.. no mather how poor they are..

Sorry for your problems.. But these are just my 2cents..

Best Regards
Carsten

That was just usual chit chat. I dont believe your engine would spin backwards, that just doesn't happen. Like SCi said, go see a mechanic.

And then buy a Honda, it will last longer.

Sorry I did however edit it to the right name.. And I didn't mean to bash.. I just never saw LADA as a reliable car.. but no mather what you buy.. you will have a problem at some point.. I never said you where poor =) just making a statement.. But I did say I felt sorry for your problem.. my car has problems too right now.. its electrical.. hate shit like that. I can't fix electric problems myself. mechanical problem I can fix, but for the love of god, WHY did I get an electrical breakdown!!!

Hope you get your car fixed. but the only real solution for your problem is seeing a mechanic.. and sorry if I offended you in anyway..

Peace

Carsten.

It's called dieseling. And there are a number of causes.

Ascaris.. you got it all wrong hehe.. Honda is cheap and easy to fix.. but breaks easily.. Mazda's engines keeps on going. but if you want a good car? Nissan and Toyota isn't a bad choice. I however love Volkswagen, but I have a Mazda.. and as I said. the engine is fine.. but its an electrical problem. hehe =)

No fucking way! Honda is one of the most reliable car in the world. I know a shit load of Honda's which has been driven over 500 000 kilometers without opening the engine. Don't even try to think anything else.

300 000 km is just a test drive. Those engines don't break up easily.

500.000 ? who are you trying to bs ? every 10.000 km you have to do oil change. every 20-30.000 km sparkplugs needs to be changed, fuel filter, airfilter. every 100-200.000 km transmision and Timing Belt..

so don't tell me that any car in the world is able to run 75.000 km without opening the engine.. because thats just plain bs..

But thanks for enlightning me.. =P

I'm not bullshitting anyone. My friend has a civic which has been driven 600 000km. Beat that one.

And I don't know what's your opinion by opening the engine, but I'm talking about a huge operation. And those baby's last forever if you do your job well. The body will rotten before the engine, and if you make some bodywork, it'll last.

We have a huge honda community in Finland, there are lots of good examples how it can last many, many years. Honda engines just go better with age. One dude has VTi engine with 160 factory horsepower, he checked the engine in the dyno, and it had 164hp. The car is ~13-15 years old. If the engine is made for running ~8000rpm, it should last. They once removed the limiter, and the vtec engine ran over 13000 rpm's.

Oh well.. I have lived on Iceland. everyone has a honda civic VTEC over there.. its cheap and easy to mod and style.. reason why they bought it.. if it broke, it was easier to buy a new one.. =)

Well, that doesn't affect in finland. We have such high costs in cars here so it's cheaper to fix yourself. We have great sources for bying new parts, so if you know how to fix it, it won't be a problem. And the great honda community will help you to fix it. I've learned so much from them.

Now we just have to wait Goatman's golden comment of japanese cars, how they are full of shit. I'm eager to hear it once again.
