And I don't know what's your opinion by opening the engine, but I'm talking about a huge operation. And those baby's last forever if you do your job well. The body will rotten before the engine, and if you make some bodywork, it'll last.

Hi, I am a professional mechanic, If your motor keeps running after you shut it off, does it run smooth, or sputter then shut off. If it keeps runnig smooth like the key is still on, it is probably an ignition switch, If it runs rough and possibly eventulay dies, it is "dieseling" up. try letting the motor idle down before you shut it off, If that doesn't work, it is and idle problem and needs to be fixed by a professional.

It probably the same as most people here and got a coked up head which is causing pinking where the carbon is igniting the fuel even after the engine is switched off

i see you have it sorted out with the engine.
let me help with the gearbox. i used to drive a 2107, i'm pretty sure they are familiar to you.
it went in reverse when you put it in first because the guidelines in the gearbox are fubar.
so basicly, instead of having a H shaped gearbox you have a K or even a X. that ain't good.
get the car to a good mechanic, or try shifting more aware, thinking every move (it's a bit difficult)
lada's are great as long as you know how to fix them. and btw, in my opinion the new lada's aren't half as good as the 210x models. or just swap yours for a Niva, those have really few problems

Its dieseling, the gas is too rich, may be the air filter is blocked-up and should be chanced, carbon black keeps engine running.
Try this
Start engine, take the air filter off and pour 1 cup of water slowly in the engine to clean carbon black off .
By e new air filter and thats all.
