The cm2 are the same no matter how you place the blocks.

If you have to print it out and cut it up, thats sad. I did it within my head in about 20 seconds.

Gas: If you do print it out, and cut it up, the figures are the same size.
What do you call a square that is 6x6, and a square that is 5x7?

Well 5x7 wouldn´t be a square would it? Isn´t "square" = "kvadrat"?

yes, I (think I now) understand what you mean sphtman. but if you think it without numbers, It feels impossible to have exactly same area first filled fully, and in second pic there is mysterious "hole". so theoretically there must be one square less.. and still those blocks are similar..
ow my head..

Let me explain it this way: Build all the parts of triangle 1 in steel. Including the "outer" triangle to place the boxes in.
Now, you can´t place them different and have an empty square left!

what Sphtman is saying is that the actual surface area has not changed, that is the same.
The position of the figures has only rearranged.
You mind is the one thinking that it is not possible.
