Bug / Missing features / Suggestions thread

How about some kind of warning/notice to newer members that uploads may take some time before being approved.
I have notices that there are many who join the site and never log back in. I guess thinking that their pic will be posted immediately

Omuh, your picture in post #498 of this thread is coming back 404notfound.

I can't see it.

Strange it works for me.
Basically, the quick view is the magnifying glass icon on top left corn of a thumbnail in the gallery or your favorites.

Kind of dissapointed - uploaded a pic, perfectly along witht the "rules" , it was in queue for a few days then dissapeared from queue and no other notion of it, no error not uploaded and not rejected??
Not exactly very informative!

Also: Please update the favicon file. I have a blank white square on my bookmarks bar, and thus I can't distinguish it from anyone else's blank white square. The result is I have to type out WBW in the property space which takes additional room on my toolbar. As I am in fact, a bit of an Internet hoarder, I need to keep things as truncated as I can. Besides, the favicon is a blank white square. That's kind of blah.

If it disappeared, then it was rejected. If all the rules were respected then it was probably a repost.

That has nothing to do with the fact that you are not welcome back. There are lots of pictures already in the gallery and many uploaded every day so there is always a chance that your picture will be a repost and we can't warn everyone individually about why x or y pics got deleted.

You should see the 2 icons when you hover your mouse over a thumbnails in your favorites or in the gallery : a magnifying glass (quick view) and a download icon. I have the same FF version as you and have no problem seeing them (there was a problem with IE but it's been solved, FF never had one). If you still can't see it, you may want to check/deactivate some addons and see if one isn't blocking stuff.

As for the favicon, added to layout.

You are pretty much spot on with your assessment ... I had 1 out of 16 pics approved from a set I took myself ... Not even being a mod helped here.

I'm just not going to bother uploading here anymore and upload to reddit etc, at least they make it to the site and not get deleted.

Thanks for adding the favicon. It's not updating in my browser yet, but I probably need to clear my cookies and cache.

As for the magnifying glass and download icons on hover, I still can't seem to make it work.

Here are my add-ons:

Ad-block plus 2.2.4
Colorzilla
Firebug
Multilinks
New tabs at the end
Norton toolbar

I disabled the ad blocker and still couldn't get it to show those items on hover. It's possible that it's related to Norton, but if that's the case then that's an issue because I'm certainly not running around riding bareback on the Internet - even on a site like this that I trust.

If anyone can post a screen cap I can see so that I can confirm I'm looking in the right place, that would be helpful.

It may well be related to Norton. It wouldn't shock me terribly to find that's the case.

Anyway with such - lack of - transparency it's absolutely lame to upload anything here.

I just added the suggestion to the todolist, I don't code the site, just regroup the idea and bugs for Diz

If it's just a toolbar, you can disable Norton without loosing your antivirus protection. What you could do is disable the addons one by one and try each time until you see them appear. So you'll be able to see which one is causing the problem. If the problem is still there with all addons disabled then that'll be strange ^^ Maybe try with another browser just to see if it's working.

If it was yours and it's never been posted anywhere else on the internet then it's a mistake.

As a former pic mod for several years, I feel like I need to jump in here.

While I have no idea why your pic was deleted, I will say that you complaint about lack of transiency is unjust. There are literally hundreds (sometimes thousands) of pictures rejected everyday. The vast majority are due to them being reposts which is not a rule violation, however some pics can be rejected for rule violations such as; low quality, borders or graphics on the pic, picture appears to be professional and may be copyright, children in pic, underage material, blood in pic, extreme bondage, drug use, and image size. With some of these reasons mods will send a message to the uploader because they feel that the poster uploaded a pic that breaks rule. Poor image quality likely won't receive a message, but a pic of an underage girl likely will. In these cases the mod will explain the reason why the pic was rejected, and in some cases revoke the posters rights. This being said, the mods simply can not write a message to every person who's picture got rejected as it would be overwhelmingly time consuming.

Yes, I'm definitely looking in the right spot.

The Norton toolbars and all the other add-ons have been checked. I think it might be the Norton program itself (firewall) that's preventing the tools from appearing, if in fact it's supposed to appear for me.

Are you sure this isn't a perk of having a sponsorship?

Yes mistakes happens or bad habits. That's why I'm asking lunalita to upload her pics again so that I can check this and do something about it if her uploads should have been accepted.

Yep, sometimes it is, it still doesn't change the fact that the mods can't possibly send an explanation of why a pic was rejected for every single rejected picture.
