I beileve it's ignorant to think a burger flipper should make twelve dollars an hour. It takes very little skill. Commenting on how ignorant a statement is (notice I did not call bannaboy ignorant only his statement) is not a personal attack, such as calling him an idiot. Ignorant simply means uniformed. He, however, attacked me personaly and called ME ignorant. I just wanted to add that I got personal after he did.

Latino:

I think you misunderstand the U.S. educational system. Education is free in the U.S. in the same way that it is free in Australia.

Kindergarten (four years old to six years old): Offered everywhere and is free.

Grammar School (six years old to fourteen years old - consists of eight grades (first through eighth grade): Offered everywhere and is free.

High School (fourteen through eighteen years old - consists of four years (ninth through twelfth grade or known as freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years)): Offered everywhere and is free.

College / University (eighteen through twenty-two years old - consists of four years (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior)): Not free but is heavily subsidized so that costs for attending an in-state university (a university in the same state in which you reside) is not too expensive. Additionally, loans for the remainder are often heavily subsidized and, consequently, the same concept as you stated applies to the U.S. in that anyone can go.

Good for you! Was it mandated by law? I don't think so. Maybe I didn't make my point clear. I would never pay an unskilled worker skilled wages. If your boss wants to pay you a 100$ an hour to flip burgers great. That's my point , FREE MARKET.

well we have a higher minimum wage than the US hence no tipping, I think it was mandated thru quasi-law, a workplace agreement between the union and the employer.

but increases in minimum wages cause increased inefficiencies within the market

Yeah, but "free" should not mean "rampant". What we have as a result is the 17th century feudal system all over again and corporations basically running our government they have become so rich and powerful. Bad, bad idea to let that happen.

i was not saying you were the only one or the worse one, just used yours as an example
not aimed only at you, sorry if i made it seem that way.

i could TRY ad explain the differences, but mongolia could do it better im sure..
yours are heavily subsidized...so are ours, true...but we take out a loan to pay the remainder..
ranging from 3k-6k a year depending on the course..and we pay that Interst free..through our taxes
after we reached a certain income. Not before...so if they never ever work..they never ever pay it back.

and this isnt only to state Unis, but any nationwide...if im wrong or missed something..mongols can cover it.

anyways, back on topic...

i dont think you could achieve the min or max wages mentioned..
simply cause no country big or small will want to be dictated what to pay people or be able to pay
those salaries...like many of the yanks here..the idea of paying burger flippers that much pisses them
off...so what happens to their incomes? they have to go up too wouldnt they? if you were earning more
than that burger flipper, wouldnt you want to keep it that way? all incomes would go up...and more
problems would arise..inflation, higher prices..etc etc..

you can not do anything so universal when everyone involved is not so universal

my opinion anyways

I think that Diz should mandate that the minimum score you can give a girl on a picture rating is seven and any score that a picture receives above eight is autmotically removed and put in a pot to be spread out among lower scoring photos.

WE should all be equal....bullshit. That's Communist economics. If someone is smart enough and motivated enough to make themselves a billionaire, then they should have the right to do it. Just like if someone is motivated to go beyond working at MacDonald's, they should be rewarded for that, not be paid similar to a French fry guy.

I would guess that 15% of poor people are unfortunate souls in need of real help...the other 85% are lazy-ass bastards who'd rather be home watching Jerry Springer (which I would enjoy, but I like money more).

BTW, in North America, poor means only have the basic satellite package, not eating grasshoppers like in Africa, so we all need to get a grip.

This may come as a surprise to some but beleive it or not .... their are able bodied people out there who, (Gasp!) DON'T want to work. So now what does the mayor of Utopia do??? Do we pay them 12 or 18 an hour to be great thinkers. Or pay them to do nothing so we can feel better about ourselves? Do we force them to work?.. Just some more questions for a lively discussion.

P.S. I must be under some sort of spell as I have read every page of this thread when I should be looking at tits.

my point was: people wouldnt be paid for the work they do, they would be paid to contribute to society and make it work for everyone, thats how a burger flipper would make 12 an hour and a doctor maybe 60 an hour, its more, but its not WAY more... because both of them, in very different ways, contritube to society functioning and working jobs which are necessary for everyone else... sort of an organism working toghether for its own good... people wouldnt be paid because they studied, they would be paid because they do what they like to do and do it well...

again, this is an ideal, an opinion and a hypothetical situation... no it cannot come true... i understand that... thats why communism doesnt work in practice, just in theory...

I never said that those who do not work should be paid. What would they be paid for? They aren't doing anything. By extension, they could also be fired for not doing their jobs. You could get paid anything up to $1M a year. If you are going to school or studying you could still get a loan to do so, or a grant, or work your way through just like now.

Here's an eye opener: half of every dollar you make in the U.S. goes straight back to the government. They get it in sales tax, wag taxes, every other damn bit of tax you pay, car licensing fees, liquor taxes, gas tax, all that FCC bullshit they tack on to your cellphone and internet bill, etc. They get half of every damn dollar. So don't get excited about whatever miniscule tax cut the fed doles out this year because in the big picture you're still getting very well screwed.

It would be interesting to hear what this same amount is in other countries, especialy Denmark and the Netherlands. Not what you pay in taxes outright, but that plus every other damn excuse they use on average to dig farther into your pocket.

Lucky for you we live in a country where we can have: Free trade, safe and fulfilling employment, cars, liquor, fuel, (you got me on the FCC, fuck them) cell phones, and the internet.

After a quick search, I found this: http://www.worldwide-tax.com/index.asp#partthree

According to the table, we dont have it all that bad after all. And according to me, I agree...taxes and everything else aside, Im proud to be here.

i think whats gonna come is an unconditional basis- income for everyone, because in a few decades people are just ballast in the system that runs better without them, and need to be kept busy with hobbies and stuff.
