shooter- quake series was amazing when it first came out... still is good
racing- need for speed most wanted
RPG- FINAL FANTASY VII by far is my favorite... so really what you looking for?
Sport- the new madden is amazing

Wow I went through the whole thread and didnt see my fav of all time...Chrono Trigger. That is of course followed by Zelda OoT.

FF7 was very good... but Daggerfall would have to be my favorite, hands down. Such an open game :3 (( Note: OLD DOS game ^^ ))

The combat, story-line, realism, etc. of Daggerfall were astounding, especially for it's time. Combat system involved clicking the screen, and dragging directionally to swing your weapon (Parrying is somewhat the same) Have yet to see a game even compete with that combat system now u,u;

Thats a tough one, so many to choose from! Goldeneye? XCom? FF7 or 8?
I think Ill have to go with Phantasy Star Online, hell what other game have I spent £400+ on internet charges for? Ha Ha Ha
