Do people from Marseille speak a different type of French? My family is from there but didn't realise they don't sound the same as someone from Paris

Yeap, when I was still living in France, I could really hear the differences between different parts of the country.
I always had to ask the people in Marseille to repeat what they said.
But after a year or so, I started to undertand them better and better.
They even said, that before I know it, I would speak like they do, the real French.
The people from other parts always reacted to that. It was all very funny to me.

But also the best time of my life.
