Meh...that requires work and stuff.

Besides, in real world politics you're lucky if you have more than one choice.

I don't get it... if I'm not siding with them on any major issues, why the high percentages?

I scored highest Paul, et al, and Romney. Will vote Romney as the fallback but can't stand him on several levels...mostly superficial. On strictly visual appeal, I get a negative vibe from him. He has that used car salesman look and think he needs a bit of makeover, nothing drastic but a modern business casual minus the slicked back hair. I'm not talking a Rolling Stone mag groin-stuffing treatment they gave Al Gore but he needs to soften up.

Depression era old-school Mom (RIP) proclaimed that women should never have been given the power to vote because they are swayed by emotional and superficial elements vs factual or scientific positions that affect society and culture. Romney scores lower with women based on visual appeal vs Obama despite the fact that Romney is 10x more manly than Barry across the board...he just needs better handling.

Adding to this conflicted position is the fact that, while scoring in the Libertarian/Republican camp I work in the Natural Resources/ecological field so I guess I'm that next to smallest minority, the environmental Libertarian/Republican that seeks a balance between the two despite some instances where "green" is better and others where common sense should prevail.

It could be worse...I could be a gay, black, environmental Libertarian/Rebublican. talk about someone alone in the wilderness

Interesting quiz. BO was #1 on my quiz. I'm not terribly surprised. 90%. Romney was down at 24%.

First, that's hugely sexist. Everything you ascribe to men there is equally true of women, and vice versa.

Second, with regard to the highlighted portion, it seems odd for a man to make that determination, and it seems even stranger for him to make it so sweepingly. Different women like different kinds of men, so blanket statements are pretty reckless and prone to error.

There's actually a pretty large contingent of libertarians who are in favor of environmental conservation, even if this must come from the force of government regulations. I replied to someone earlier in this thread that they don't have the freedom to pollute the air everyone breathes. Just like they don't have the right to fish species to extinction and the like. In that same response I think I mentioned something about how Milton Friedman conceded in a number of interviews that this is a proper role for the government, to prevent externalities of others from negatively effecting the individuals - ie. enforcing things like clean air and water laws, for example.

Further, there are groups like: http://bleedingheartlibertarians.com/ who support what are traditionally known as "left" positions with regard to things like social justice or the environment, and there are actually philosophical writings on ecological libertarianism; things like Georgism or more precisely Geolibertarianism.

I think one problem people have is that they fall into these preconceived notions that you must fit "X" criteria in order to be a member of some group, when the reality is that everything operates on a continuum and the definitions and groups are really just nebulous groups of people of diverse positions on lots of isses, even fairly core ones.

I tend to think that true libertarians wouldn't care about most of that, and/or that they certainly wouldn't think the government should discriminate against you, but I guess it depends on your perspective. While I think of people like Friedman, Hayek, JS Mill, Jefferson, and today guys like Gary Johnson when I hear the word "libertarian," others may think of people like Glenn Beck and Lew Rockwell, both of whom support a significantly less "tolerant" variant of libertarianism.

Also, I didn't mention this in my first reply, but I don't get this. You're going to vote for someone you admittedly dislike, even though there are candidates who are actually running for President that are much more aligned with your ideals? Why?

Personally, I would never vote for someone I didn't like. I'll find someone that's running that I'm closely aligned with and vote for them. If nobody is closely aligned with my positions I'll either abstain or write in a vote. I don't care if that person doesn't have a good chance at winning, because the point of voting, IMO, isn't to pick a "winner" but to pick someone who you would like to see in office. It seems to me that voting for someone you don't like just because the person you do like is likely to lose is selling out because you want to be part of a winning team.

That's just like, my opinion man, but to me, voting for someone you don't like just because they've got a shot at winning is a huge cop out.

Your opinion is fine and I understand where you're coming from but this is the USA. Being a political purist is fine at heart but this is the real world, things are not always perfect and it doesn't get Barack Obama unelected. Like they say...walk in a man's (or woman's) shoes...or: you had to be there. I could write in Ron Paul to vote my conscience but I'd get no satisfaction knowing I played a personal part in sending Barack's sorry ass back to Kenya, or wherever the hell he's from.

Also, I forgot to mention this because I was being nice and diplomatic before, but if you answered anything other than some form of "YES" to the 'do you believe in evolution' question you need to light yourself on fire and then jump off a very tall building. Don't worry, if it's in his plan, God will save you.
