It does however seem we as a group are leaning heavily to the Libertarian side

And I believe that, for most instances, the government should stay out of the way, do the best it can to not exist.
However, I'm not naive enough to think that if the government disappeared, the industries would be like "Sweet. Now we get to be upstanding citizens. We'll have the earth saved and all the worlds problems solved by next Thursday." We'd be living in Old New York (Futurama) before 2015.

I agree with you and this may be a miss quote of our constitution, but,
A Government By the People and FOR the People. Now that could come close to utopia. Jus Sayin'

How is that poorly written and "wrong?"
Unless you mean that stem cell research is legal provided you don't use government grant money or if you use any of the already established cell lines. But, I don't know, that seems like nitpicking because if you know all that then you know what the question is asking, which is basically, "should the government continue its restrictions on stem cell testing?"
No biggie, just seemed...
As for it not being a good survey, it matches your positions to the candidates' stated positions. Just because you got an answer you don't like doesn't mean it was a good survey, it just means that your personal positions most align with that particular candidate. If you don't support that person, that's not really a big deal, although, I have to say, if you have that much in common with Romney I can't really imagine any other current Presidential candidate who would be simpatico with what I'm assuming your answers to those questions were.
I find it a bad question because many believe Bush outlawed stem cell research when, as you pointed out, he stopped gov't funding of it except for a few lines. Anyone who wished to spend their own money on the research could. Essentially, this question fed into a misconception and I believe was done on purpose.
Second I don't like the survey because the matches are done by canidiates stated beliefs. For some, stated beliefs and real beliefs match but for most politicians it doesn't. How many on this site really believe Obama didn't support gay marriage when running in '08 and now does? He's always supported it but changed his "stated" belief for swing voters and moderate republicans.
Lastly, black and white answers for complicated questions don't work well. Back to gay marriage, I voted NO but that is the short answere and doesn't come close to my actual belief. To explain, I think marriage is a religious convention and as such should be left to religion to decided what is right and wrong. If you want to get married in the eyes of GOD then go to your pastor, have them perform the ceremony and put it in their book. There you go, you're married now. Government should have civil unions only. Any couple want to go combine their assets they go to the courthouse, fill out the paperwork and they are done with it. This would seperate out the religous moral question from the transaction.

While I totally disagree with you, that was an option on the poll.

Yeah, you should have clicked the "other" button. After clicking that a handful of more nuanced answers from which to choose popped up. I think you would have found something closer to your actual position there. It was far from a "black & white" survey.

The only time I clicked "Yes" or "No" was when the other responses were too nuanced. I did it twice I think.
The survey was "black & white with 4 shades of gray and the option to openly express your own color should you choose to."

I'm pretty sure your position was an option almost verbatim, trimmed down a bit to not take up a whole paragraph.
From the quiz-
"Take the government out of marriage and instead make it a religious decision"
Or
"Yes, allow civil unions for same-sex couples but don't call it marriage"
Or, you could have combined the two, or you could have written exactly what you did up there.

Yeah, sticking it to the man! That'll show them to not specifically include your preferred option and yet still give you the opportunity to express yourself fully in a quiz.
Those dicks.
