Then there was the truckin' phase kicked off by "Convoy"

Claude Akins in Movin' On

And Greg Evigan in BJ & the Bear

Should I be scared that I didn't have to google those names?

HBO did an excellent job on A Game of Thrones.
I've read the books, and the TV series fit my mind's
eye nearly perfectly. Deadwood was also really good.
HBO knocks it outta the park consistently.

So, since I made my honorable mention lists (because YOURE STILL NOT BEATING THE WIRE), I've seen a couple TV series via the intertubes that should also get listed:

Breaking Bad - Just very well done all around.

The West Wing - I vaguely remember people raving about this show years ago, but I never watched it because I was at an age where a drama about the White House didn't really appeal to me all that much and I was a super-douche partisan hack, so I was like, "Ew, democrats." After watching Sorkin's The Newsroom, I decided to go back and give The West Wing a try, and although I'm only two seasons into it, it's excellent. There's a lot of quick, witty, repartee that legit makes me lol on occasion, and the acting all around is top notch.

I've also heard excellent things about BBC's Sherlock Holmes, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Will probably at some point.

Also, to whomever said The Big Bang Theory deserves to be in this thread, kindly walk east until you hat floats. That shit is fucking unwatchable and the stereotyping of every single character on that show is just offensive. Also, generally not funny.

So speaking of HBO. One of my favorite shows on the network besides The Newsroom has got to be Treme. I think its a really powerful show, set in post Katrina New Orleans and uses music as a backdrop. Story lines about struggling musicians, police corruption, and people trying to get by make it one of my favorites.

Treme was created by David Simon, who was the creator of The Wire, which, I don't know if you've heard, is the greatest TV thing ever.

I knew this. I started to watch the first few episodes of The Wire, but was never really able to get into it. I might have to try again.

Oh. Well, it's a crime/police drama, so if you're not really into that genre you might not dig it, but the acting, writing, and shooting is just ultra-realistic and amazingly well done.

Idris Elba's Stringer Bell character is one of the best acted, and deepest characters I've ever seen.

Deadwood really did kick ass. Especially the first season but it was strong all three seasons.

Anyone remember John From Cincinnati? Another HBO series.

Lasted only one season. It was strange but it was really good. Never reached where it was headed.
