Communism? Where the hell are you getting communism from?
Dude. I can't stand Obama. But your writing is out there. Communism has nothing to do with this. Obama is more like Italian Fascism than Communism on the economic policy side of things. He seems to favor the mixed economy of Mussolini with banks and other businesses being quasi-nationalized through government investment, protectionism being the order of the day, and extreme expansion of government spending on public projects.

So a newbie came to WBW to piss and moan about how he doesn't like Obama? It was ridiculous when that garbage about Communism was spewed during the election, it's ridiculous now. Obama proposes to increase the tax rate on the highest bracket from 35% to 37%, and all of a sudden, that's communism? The 2% did that?
If either US candidate was espousing communist ideas, it would have to have been McCain, who favored having the government purchase people's mortgages and renegotiate them so that people would be paying a lower rate, but be paying it to the government. But I'm not naive enough to think that McCain is really a Communist.
I'm so glad the election is over. I get so tired of listening to people spout off rhetoric about things they don't understand. Love Obama, hate Obama- I really don't care that much, but at least have a reason that's based on his policy proposals.
Can you add an option to the poll so that I could agree that you are a douche bag?
The man is entitled to his opinion, right wrong or indifferent. More so if has has worn the uniform. He is clearly misinformed on a number of issues. At least he is not attacking his race as has been done elswhere on this website. Once again, Rockin is spot on in his assesment. Allow me to add that Pelosi and her cronies are more socialist than communist. Trust me on this, they do not want to give up any of their toys. What they do want to do is create a nanny state with massive entitlements such that the populace becomes dependent upon goverment rather than creating a true free market society that allows indivuals with backbone to be entreprenuers and reap the rewards for those that are willing to risk. What I see is the deisre to regulate industries and enterprises such that no one can became the next Bill Gates.
I do have issues with the Bail Outs. The unions have choked our auto industry along with the fact that managment at the big three have by and large been living in an ivory tower for too long. Chrysler had done the most to keep it's productd fresh & appealing. Ford has priced itself out of the market with its products that are desirable. It will not bring products that are desireable and competitive with the top Japanese imports. GM has had it way for so long and is so bloated that it leadership has been far to arrogant to realize(until its ass was handed to it by congress) that it is bloated and has needed to pare down it's product lines and begin produce products that people want. The Malibu is a good effort...
I dont even want to get started with the banks or insurance companies. I have worked in both indutries. Too many CEOs have gotten fat while rank and file get fucked. Good examples are Meryl Lynch and Enron.
Obama has his work cut out for him. He is largely inexperienced. Yet he has "mulligan points" that will give him some help. For the record, I did NOT vote for him. I have read a great number of articles on him. I saw him as more liberal than Hilary. Then I read that during his tenure as Harvard Law Review chief, he did not cater to the liberals on campus as had been expected. He moved to the center, and drew people from all groups in attempts to make sure everyone was fairly and properly represented. I have seen attempt to do the same thing to a smaller degree now in office. His party has loaded him with former Clinton staffers. His fare for the ride I guess. Time will tell who he really is. For all our sakes I hope he succeeds and does the right thing for ALL of us. To be clear, too much is at stake for me to worry about party lines in this. I am concerned about our economic future. I am reading that it will be mid 2010 before we see a turn around. The last time it was this bad, I was still in high school.
To be correct, it's Socialism -not Communism...
Freedom, Free Enterprise and Godly Wisdom & Love are what made this country great! Increased Welfare, bailing out failures, and taking from the successful to suport the leaches and lazy assed citizens is fucked up!!!
To be fair, anyone taking office right now would be S.O.L. How do you make good decisions when there are no definite answers. Let us not forget that Economics is a social science.
Obama is the best thing that has happened to this country since Lincoln... Deal with it, n00b!
Seriously, though... As I mentioned in my Great Depression 2.0 thread (http://whatboyswant.com/forum_read/4533191/1/10) he is much better than what we had... He has passed a stimulus package and a housing package that I hope that will help the economy. Let's face it, the past 8 years of incompetence have put us in a hole that it will take us a long time to dig out way out of. Goodness hopes that we will see a day that we will be out of this mess before it's too late.
