This man knows his stuff. iAudio X5 is an amazing player...sound quality is great, format compatibility is huge, screen is decent, and it's reasonably cheap too.

You seem to assume that everyone wants to listen to annoying shockjocks, fifteen minutes of advertisement after every three minute song. Give me one good reason to use FM? FM is utter crap now, and defeats the whole purpose of having your ENTIRE MUSIC LIBRARY in your MP3 player. So don't give me that "It doesn't have an FM radio" crap. Why the hell would I want to waste battery power with FM? If I wanted to be at the mercy of the random playlist of an annoying DJ with a reality distortion field about them, I'd just choose Shuffle on my iPod.

I haven't listened to FM radio in about eight years now, I barely tune into AM radio (WWJ 950 for weather and traffic) as it is. Don't assume everyone has the same listening habits as you do.

I choose the iPod because.

+ Supperior integration of iPod and iTunes that has not been matched yet.
+ Superior controls and UI.
+ Superior accessory market, for every accessory for the other guy you can find 10x as many.
+ Superior Podcast support.
+ Superior Music selection of the Internet Music Stores
+ Handles the majority of formats thrown at it, with the exception of the propietary WMA shit.

Don't get a Rio! I had one and it sucks. Now I have a Nano. No problems. Great interface, etc. All the good stuff you've heard about iPod is true.

What the hell does this mean?!!! That's the most uninformed and stupidest thing I've read on here.

Don't listen to the iPod haters unless they own one and hate it. The iPod Nano is fantastic, and the wife's iPod Mini has been great for 3 years with no problems.

I've had an ipod (several actually) and also a sony mp3 player and a couple of creative ones. So far the creative have been the best. I put them all thru crap and they survived no problem, the only reason iver had more than one was to increase space. The ipods i had nothig but trouble with. Had to return it twice, then the problems i had with itunes on my pc (and i know of atleast 10 others just at my place of work who havent been happy because itunes crapped up their pc's).
Yes, Ipod and itunes are great, but in my opinion creative is the best so far (and the sound quality was better for me too)
Get an ipod, and as long as the first few weeks are problem free u'll be happy, get a creative and you'll still be happy. Its all personal preference.
Oh and just so people know, Zune is made by tosihiba, so its not totally MS crap. lol

I absolutely love my 30 gig video IPOD, i have one my son has 1 my daughter has a nano, never ever had a problem with any of them, i beat mine, have droped it, take everywhere, has never failed me, ez to use, wouldn't own anything else , accessories all depend on what you what,i have about 7000 songs 5 tv shows, 3 full length movies and 67 music and porn videos, and vary from 100 to 1000's of pics at any time, of course i rearrange to make room for all , the only diference is the 30 gb video has a hard drive, and the nanos have a flash drive, but YES i do recommend IPOD, yes and i do advise to buy different headphones, i have been through atleast 6 sets of apple headphones, but i do like to jam, sony makes a decent midrange priced earbud, then of course you have the expensive ones, but they do kick ass, good luck with your choice, if you do get an ipod, i have every program to convert any video, movie, tv show etc to format for IPOD also Ipod will ACC encode songs that are not the right format

Although I'm not a big Apple fan, I have to say anyone that bashes ipods must have never owned or used one.

If you want an ipod but don't want to pay the price, look at the refurbished stuff on apple's site. I just bought a 60 gig for $199 (originally sold for $450). And they come with a one year warranty. As far as accessories being over priced, that's a bunch of hooey. Everyone and their brother makes accessories for ipods. Shop around and the deals are great. I bought a $35 case for mine for $8, an $80 FM transmitter for $32 and a $25 case for my wife's nano for $5.

My g/f is currently ebay bidding on the sansa 260 4 gigs... they are just over $100 dollars right now. Amazon has them on sale for 129.99 which is not much more since they offer free shipping and you don't have to worry about dealing with people you don't know.

Damn. The 6GB sansa costs 226.90 euros here, which is ~299 dollars.

Do you find people are usually unwilling to ship overseas? or is the price just not worth it to do so? or do you hate ebay.....

Ordering from USA gives a shitty shipment costs. With bad luck they can be over $100, which is insane. If I had a good place to order with small shipping fees, I'd gladly order from the states.

Sansa seems like a great player. MP3, videos, photos, big color screen and SD slot. You can get 4GB SD cards, so you can double the amount of memory. Too bad the EU tax policy doesn't allow the FM radio to work. In US version the radio works.

Only reason to avoid iPod would be price. If you want a little more for your money then go with iRiver or Creative or Sandisk. We have 3 Creative and a Sandisk at my house and have had no issues with them. With iPod, you are paying a premium for the name.
