Agreed. Hundred's of thousands died, but it did end WW2. How many lives did it save? How long would Japan have carried on? Historians agree that Japan had no intentions of surrendering and that the war would have likely lasted many years and been fought street to street, building to building. A very sad day indeed.

It was a shame....the world is not a better place after Einstein split the atom. WWII was horrible from Nazi Germany to South East Asia, where the Japanese brutalized the Chinese and Koreans..all the way to the shores of America, where we turned away thousands of Jewish refugees. It is one of the darkest periods in history, filled with horror, but also with the deeds of the heros who fought against the evil Nazi regime and the imperialist Japanese

So how come did USA accept exactly the sam conditions for peace after the bombings that Japan had offered before them?
