XCOM is a brutal game, and by brutal I mean it cheats hard. Desh went down because an enemy was spawned right next to him and they never gave a hint that shit was gonna happen. It literally spawned three spaces away from where I had him bunkered, it came around the corner and shot him point blank in the face in one fucking turn. Zen died because somehow laws of physics don't apply and plasma bolts can cut through about four embankments across the map to hit him even though he was in full cover.

Kinda surprised that Da_X and Dros have lasted this long.

Remember that time in L4D2 when I actually survived to the end of the map, and then glitched out on the elevator up to the safe house and fell to my death? That was some bull phooey. So it doesn't surprise me that I died in XCOM because the Game Gods were hatin' on me.

It's not surprising that glitches like that happen, there are a lot of crappy software developers.

Life is one big glitch, seems things rarely go the way we expect them to...

I decided to give Enemy Within a shot to see if it was an separate campaign, but instead it is a rebalanced and add-ons pack. Which is nice, the EW seems far less dirty and cheaty than the first one. However, for some odd reason the first like 9 candidates for squad were all chicks. After you start a new campaign, you are assigned one character form the prologue/tutorial mission and then the next squad you get is randomly generated. You can customize the units the game gives you, but not their sex or nationality.
