I think he means the press is using this story as a diversion. Not that the government decided to have the VP shoot someone as a diversion.

Anyway, yup Outback is lousy for steak. Best steak I ever had was in a strip joint in Austin, TX. Big T-bone, cooked dead on medium, huge tater all loaded up with salad, next veggie and dessert for $8.95. Damn good. Went back often for dinner, the strippers were so-so, a few cuties but not all. Best thing was explaining the charge to the bookeepers at the company (travel expense dinner). So the boss comes out for dinner one night, after that you couldn't drag him away from the meals that place made. And the price, what a meal deal.

This is all going a bit (offtopic)

Can't we all just get back to taking the piss out of Dick...?
